GOLD OR BRASS? NO OTHER GOSPEL!

MohGOLD OR BRASS? NO OTHER GOSPEL!

2 Chronicles 12:9-10 So Shishak king of Egypt came up against Jerusalem, and took away the treasures of the house of the Lord , and the treasures of the king's house; he took all: he carried away also the shields of gold which Solomon had made. Instead of which king Rehoboam made shields of brass, and committed them to the hands of the chief of the guard, that kept the entrance of the king's house.

Brass looks like gold but it is not gold. It has the same appearance as gold but lacks the quality. Gold is gold while brass is brass. They all have different constituents and quality. Gold is not a mixture; it is a pure metal. Brass on the other hand is a mixture of metals which is called an alloy.

I believe the Bible affirms certain concepts in science. Gold is a picture of divine righteousness; it is consistent all throughout the scripture. Shield speaks of faith (Ephesians 6:16). Hence the golden shields speaks of the righteousness of faith. While brass in this context is a picture of the mixture of law and grace.

One of the biggest problem we have in the body of Christ today is that there are those who have crept in unawares, and are preaching another gospel, just like they did to the Galatian church.

Galatians 1:6-7 I marvel that ye are so soon removed from him that called you into the grace of Christ unto another gospel: Which is not another; but there be some that trouble you, and would pervert the gospel of Christ.

Just like Rehoboam replaced the golden shields with brass shields, folks are doing the same today with the gospel of grace. What they preach may have some element of grace in it, but it’s all mixture and not pure grace. Our salvation is completely based on grace through faith (Ephesians 2:8). If it is not only by grace through faith, then it is not the true gospel. You cannot be saved by grace and works at the same time. It is trying to mix water and oil; that’s impossible. This scripture says it all:

Romans 11:6 And if by grace, then is it no more of works: otherwise grace is no more grace. But if it be of works, then is it no more grace: otherwise work is no more work.

When you hear folks say things like, you are saved by grace when you came into Christ, but in order to make it to heaven, you must maintain good works and stay away from sin. They don’t believe that the same grace that saved them is enough to carry you through all the way. Their problem is nothing but sin consciousness.

When I hear things like, “remain rapturable”, I get terribly upset. What they mean is that, if you don’t straighten out before rapture comes, you will not make it to heaven. That’s absolute nonsense!

If being rapturable is by works, then I think we are all wasting our time as believers; then not even one of God’s saints, including those who preach this mixed gospel will make it. Adding even just a tiny bit of work nullifies the work of grace. It is all grace and none of works. It is all of Christ and none of us.
