Galatians 6:6 Those who are taught the Word of God should help their teachers by paying them. TLB

When you give to a man of God, you actually don’t give to a person but an anointing; and that anointing is activated for your advantage, bringing tremendous blessings to your life. Our opening scripture is a spiritual law that can be activated. You give to where you are fed – this is sowing to the spirit. Folks who give to where they are not fed and ministered to are sowing to their flesh.

Galatians 6:7-8 “Be not deceived; God is not mocked: for whatsoever a man soweth, that shall he also reap. 8 For he that soweth to his flesh shall of the flesh reap corruption; but he that soweth to the Spirit shall of the Spirit reap life everlasting”.

I know that folks have misused this scripture to talk about sin. The context of the scripture is clear – it is all about giving to those who instruct you in the word of God. We are instructed by the Spirit to sow to him that ministers the word to us. Something happens when you give to an anointing; the anointing starts ministering back to you – empowers you to prosper in your business and every area of your life. Your spirit opens up to receive all that is in that anointing.

If you don’t minister back to that anointing in tithing, firstfruits and other seed faith, very soon you will not receive much from that anointing, especially when the minister in question is your Pastor. If you give to other men of God and not to your Pastor who ministers effectively to you, your giving is all in vain.
In giving to minsters, your Pastor comes first in the hierarchy; he is the one God has put over you – shepherding you and encouraging you. You cannot give to television ministers and not give to your Pastor who ministers to you. Television ministers are not your Pastors; they are teachers sent to you. After you’ve given to your Pastor and the ministry, then you can give to other ministries.

It is just like a man who takes care of other people’s children while neglecting his very own in the process; he is not a wise father. Don’t you think so? This vital relationship as revealed in scripture is a phenomenon that is ongoing – it has to be practiced consistently for it to deliver its results and blessings.

1 Timothy 5:17-18 “Let the elders that rule well be counted worthy of double honour, especially they who labour in the word and doctrine. 18 For the scripture saith, Thou shalt not muzzle the ox that treadeth out the corn. And, The labourer is worthy of his reward.”

The emphasis here is clear: the double honor is to those who labor in the word and not those who are supervisors – it is laborers in the word and not supervisors of churches. And if they labor indeed, then their honor shouldn’t be denied them. And the honour here is giving.

This is my observation: it is the devil’s passion and mission to see ministers neglected and dishonored by those they minister to; he knows the consequence that follows when ministers are dishonored – he is able to freeze the finances of God’s people. Let us honor our ministers today by giving to them and supporting their ministries. After all, it is all for your benefit. Praise God!
