Hebrews 2:14 Forasmuch then as the children are partakers of flesh and blood, he also himself likewise took part of the same; that through death he might destroy him that had the power of death, that is, the devil;
Many folks around the world have little idea of who devil is, even including some section of believers and preachers. If you truly know who the devil is, you can tame him and reduce him to a manageable size. The devil is a defeated foe; that’s all he is. The word “destroy” in our opening scripture is from the Greek word “katargeō” which according to Thayer means to render idle, unemployed, inactivate, inoperative. It also means to cause a person or thing to have no further efficiency; to deprive of force, influence, power, annul, abolish.
Strong defines it as to render entirely idle (useless), abolish, make of no effect, vanish away, make void. Can you see who your enemy is? The devil does not possess the power many have ascribed to him; he simply does not have the power to kill any soul, not even a fly. The devil used to have the power of death. But when Jesus died, through His death, He paralysed the devil and took away the power of death from him.
Now someone may ask, then why do satan kill people around the world? The truth is men are the ones giving him that power to do the evil things he does. You need to understand the strategy of satan. He has three-fold mission: The thief cometh not, but for to steal, and to kill, and to destroy……. (John 10:10)
The devil begins by stealing which is deception. What he does is to get people into wrong thinking, wrong confessions and wrong actions; then he can destroy them. If every human on earth will think right, talk right and act right, I tell you that there will be minimal satanic activities around the world. Don’t be afraid of the devil; he does not possess the power to kill you. You are superior to the devil, hell and death. Hallelujah!
