THE LEGAL SIDE OF REDEMPTION
THE LEGAL SIDE OF REDEMPTION

John 19:30 When Jesus therefore had received the vinegar, he said, It is finished: and he bowed his head, and gave up the ghost.
Redemption has two sides, the legal and the vital side. Understanding what these are, and knowing where we come in, will definitely put you over in the affairs of life. Many believers in Christ don’t even have a clue of this simple but profound concept in scripture.
Redemption simply means to purchase or buy back a property. In Bible days, lands and slaves and other things were redeemed by paying a price. And the one who redeems is called the “kinsman redeemer”; just like in the case of Ruth who was redeemed by Boaz.
The legal side of redemption in New Testament concept has to do with what Jesus came to do for us in His redemptive work – His sufferings, death on the cross and resurrection. And by what Jesus did in His redemptive program, the work concerning our righteousness, holiness, health, prosperity, and all the blessings of God is finished.
Today, we do not need to do anything to become righteous again as born-again believers in Christ Jesus. We are righteous by the work of Christ. Christ Himself is now our righteousness (1 Corinthians 1:30). Righteousness was imparted to you the day you became born again hence you don’t have to struggle to become righteous.
Christ is not trying to heal you today. All the work concerning your health has been finished. No matter what you might feel or see in your body, it does not nullify the truth that Jesus’ stripes was the payment for your sickness. No sickness has the legal right to remain in your body; they have all been paralyzed and defeated by Jesus. No matter what their name may be, they are not real; they are a mirage. I see every sickness in your body disappearing right now in Jesus’ name.
Your prosperity is a done deal, “for ye know the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, that, though he was rich, yet for your sakes he became poor, that ye through his poverty might be rich” (2 Corinthians 8:9). Every believer in Christ is rich, his financial condition in the natural notwithstanding. God made you rich the day you got born again.
On the cross, Jesus willed all His estate to you and you became an heir of God because you are the seed of Abraham. Christ’s finished work on the cross and resurrection is what constitute the legal side of redemption. What we have been brought into is a finished work. This is what you need to believe. Everything that Christ’s redemption purchased is now yours legally. Praise God!
