Ephesians 3:16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man;
This is one of the finest prayers in the Bible that apostle Paul prayed for the Ephesian brethren. You will do well to pray that for yourself and other saints of God. To appreciate this prayer, you have to understand what Paul is saying here.
Acts 1:8 says, But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. The word “power” in this scripture is from the Greek word “dunamis” which means inherent power, miraculous power, ability, might etc.
This implies that the day you received the Holy Ghost, power (dunamis) came upon you. The word “might” in our opening scripture is also from the Greek word “dunamis”. And Paul prayed that the Ephesian church be strengthened with might in their inner man.
One time while listening to a tape by Pastor Chris, I saw the word might is from the same Greek word as the word power in Acts 1:8; then it occurred to me that these people Paul prayed for have already received the might; but he prayed that they will be strengthened with this might. The Greek rendering made it so clear. Then I got to know that it is one thing to receive the power or might and it is another thing for that might to strengthen you.
God’s desire is that we walk in victory, power, boldness and confidence; and not as weaklings, being beaten by every wind of the enemy. The key to walking in the miraculous is to be strengthened with might in your inner man. You can take our opening scripture and pray that prayer for yourself till you are strengthened with might.
There is just too little that you can do in your own strength. This is why you need to be strengthened with might on your inside. The more time you spend speaking in tongues and meditating on the word of God, the more you are strengthened with might for victorious living. And as you are strengthened with this might, then you can win souls, preach boldly without fear, work miracles and heal the sick. Glory to God!
