Isaiah 62:4 Thou shalt no more be termed Forsaken; neither shall thy land any more be termed Desolate: but thou shalt be called Hephzi–bah, and thy land Beulah: for the Lord delighteth in thee, and thy land shall be married.
The word “Hephzibah” is a Hebrew word which simply means “delight” or “my delight is in her”. It is an affectionate term God uses to describe the delight He has in His people. As a child of God, God greatly delights in you, what you have done in the past notwithstanding.
What does it mean for God to delight in you? It simply means that God is excited about you; He is thrilled about you; it means He takes pleasure in you; and this is simply because of who He has made you in Christ Jesus – it is not because of all the nice things that you do. Your place in Christ is what makes God to delight in you.
You are His glory; you are the reflection of His beauty and glory – this is the foundation of your faith. When God looks at you, you remind Him of Himself. You have to believe these things that I am sharing with you. If you will look at yourself in the natural, probably you won’t believe what I am saying – you have to receive by faith this truth that I am communicating with you.
Psalms 149:4 says, “For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.” Just getting to know that the Almighty takes pleasure in me delights my heart – it gives me peace and tranquillizes my entire being. If God delights in me, who cares who does not like me? It makes no difference if someone does not like you – as long as God delights in you, that is what greatly matters.
Never allow yourself to be taken advantage of by anyone; feel sorry for those who mistreat you. They have no idea of who you are in Christ Jesus. Never feel sorry for yourself; there is someone up there who is cheering you on, and can’t wait to see you succeed in all things.
God loves you. God accepts you. God delights in you. God takes pleasure in you. Don’t let religious people talk you down; they may tell you that you are of no use to God; but that is their opinion and not God’s. Jeremiah 29:11 says, For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord , thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.” To think that God has great plans for me puts springs in my steps.
