Depression is a feeling of despair, unhappiness, a sense of hopelessness and helplessness, and a feeling of discouragement. It is an emotional trauma that leaves it victims in a state of sadness; it cripples a man and drains the life out of you.

And this is caused by a spirit. There are people you meet who are sad and perplexed for no reason. If you ask them why they are depressed they can’t even tell you why. I know there are disturbing situations that can lead to depression; be there are cases where people are depressed and suffer emotional instability without any cause or reason. This is caused by a spirit – scripture calls it “the spirit of heaviness”.

Depression is caused by a spirit. Psychology will tell you that depression is an emotional anomaly. But scripture tells you that depression is a spirit. Thus, anytime you feel depressed, just know that you are at war with a spirit – it is not you trying to feel sad – you are up against a spirit.

Jesus told us to cast out devils. You have to learn how to cast out the spirit of depression from your life. If you don’t do that, this devil will rob you of every ounce of joy. Before long, you will take it on the people that are around you; and it can destroy your relationships and even your marriage.

Many of the suicide cases around the world are caused by the spirit of depression or heaviness. Make up your mind to be joyful from today. Receive the oil of gladness that exalts you above your fellows. If you don’t make yourself happy, no can do that for you. Cultivate the habit of singing praises to God. Fill your home with anointed music of praise and worship. This will drive devil’s away from your life.
