BE ATTENTIVE TO THE WORD PREACHED

Proverbs 4:20‭ My son, attend to my words; incline thine ear unto my sayings.‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

The impotent man at Lystra was very attentive to Paul’s preaching hence his faith came alive till apostle Paul could perceive it. Then Paul told him to get up on his feet and walk; and he leaped and walked. Faith from God’s word came to the man because he was attentive to Paul’s preaching.

If you are in a service and you are not attentive, so many things will elude you. When you come to church, you must of necessity pay attention to the preaching of the word. Every part of the service is important. But the most important part of the service is the preaching of the word. During preaching, God dispenses His blessings and miracles take place.

Some people go to church and dance and sing with all their heart. But the moment it comes to the preaching of the word, they lose interest in the service; some even go into sleeping mode till the word is over.

There are people who would like to distract you while the word is being preached; do well to ignore such folks; if possible, change your seating place. You can’t afford to allow someone to distract you when God is talking to you.

During the preaching of the word, it is God talking to you. And it will be irreverential for you not to pay attention while God is talking to you. How will you feel if you are talking to someone and the fellow is doing some other thing and he is not paying attention? You will just know that that fellow doesn’t have respect or value for what you are saying.

If you don’t pay attention to the word preached in church, it implies that you don’t have respect and value to God and His word. Paying attention to the word preached shows that you place value on God’s word. And it delights God’s heart when we pay attention to Him.
