JESUS TOOK YOUR PLACE

1 Thessalonians 1:10 And to wait for his Son from heaven, whom he raised from the dead, even Jesus, which delivered us from the wrath to come.

There is this song that says, "He took my place and died for me; I was condemned to hell and fire; but He took my place and died for me.” That’s a beautiful lyric. But I wonder how many of the people who sing this song truly believe in the revelation of the song. I think most of them just sing the song without understanding it.

This same people will tell you even though Jesus died for you, if you don’t straighten out your life and died with an unconfessed sin, you are headed for hell. The question is, Jesus taking our place on the cross, is it enough for our salvation?

Do you know what it means for Jesus to take your place? This means that the death, condemnation and hell that you were supposed to suffer, Jesus suffered it for you by paying a heavy price with His blood and body. He took your place of sin, death and punishment. What you were supposed to suffer, He suffered it. This is the reality of the gospel, which sounds too good to be true.

If Jesus took your place of condemnation, and now you need to add your good works to escape God’s wrath, what is the point for Him dying? I am not advocating a lose lifestyle. What I am attacking is this false gospel that has robbed millions of Christians their true joy and liberty in Christ. This is what I have been preaching all my life, and yet I don’t live a lose lifestyle. So you cannot say that preaching like this is a license to sin.

Your faith must rest solely on Jesus and His finished work on the cross. Jesus was the one who declared, It is finished; meaning all that was required for your salvation is finished, nothing to be added to it again. Any addition to the cross is an abomination to heaven. The cross is more than enough for your salvation. Jesus took your place of condemnation and hell.

Today, because of Christ, you will not go to hell, only if you believe in what He did for you. Those who don’t accept the sacrifice of Jesus are truly headed for hell. According to the scriptures, they are already condemned. You do not have to go to hell. And all it takes to escape hell is accepting Jesus as your Lord and Saviour. Rest in the consciousness of the cross.
