YIELD TO THE POTTER

Jeremiah 18:6 O house of Israel, cannot I do with you as this potter? saith the Lord . Behold, as the clay is in the potter's hand, so are ye in mine hand, O house of Israel.

A clay in the hand of a potter is how we ought to be in the hands of God. It is the potter that determines the kind of vessel to be made and not the clay. The clay doesn’t have a say in the hand of the potter. The clay simply yields to the dictates of the potter; and it is moulded into a fine vessel by the potter.

The Potter in scripture is a picture of the Holy Ghost. Jesus sent us the Holy Ghost to mould our lives for the glory of God. I don’t see a believer going far in the things of God without yielding completely to the Holy Ghost. You have to come to that place where you will say from your heart like Jesus, “Not my will, but thy will be done; as I hear so I judge.”

The clay is helpless in the hand of the potter. We need to yield completely to the Holy Spirit if we desire to see our lives become what God has designed it to be. You will not amount much in the kingdom of God if you refuse to yield to the Holy Ghost. You will have to submit your life completely to the Holy Ghost. This means that you only do what He tells you to do; you only go to the places that He leads; you don’t just wake up and do things, their relevance notwithstanding.

To the degree that you yield to the Holy Ghost is to that degree that He will work in your life. The Holy Spirit is a perfect gentleman; He will not force His way into your life. It is the devil who forces his way into places that he has not been invited. The Holy Ghost requires your invitation for Him to work effectively in your life.

The clay goes through a period of crushing and beatings before it is moulded in to a definite shape, which men appreciate and are willing to pay for it. You will need to be broken before the Lord. It is only broken people who can break others for Jesus. Your will must be fully yielded to the Holy Spirit. He must be the Lord of your life.

Disobeying the Holy Ghost will only delay you in life and make life hard and difficult for you. Receive grace to yield to the Holy Ghost and see your life go from glory to glory.
