Numbers 6:23-27 Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The Lord bless thee, and keep thee: The Lord make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The Lord lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them.
The worst thing that can happen to a church is to have a dumb priest. When we come to church and the pastor says nothing to you, how can you be blessed? So you see, the blessing is communicated through words. A pastor who does not frequently and consciously pronounce blessings on his congregation is not helping his members. The pastor has been empowered by God to bless His congregation.
It does not matter if the pastor spent the whole night of Saturday praying for the Sunday service. If he comes and say nothing to you, you will receive nothing.
God commanded the priest in the Old Testament to bless His people anytime they came into the temple or tabernacle. And God instructed the priests with the very words they were to use to bless His people. It tells you the importance God attaches to the blessing of His people.
When you come to church, be open to the blessing that your pastor pronounces. This could happen while he is preaching, giving an instruction, making prophetic declarations, or praying the benediction prayer.
Learn to say amen to every blessing proclaimed by the man of God as you go to the house of God. Don’t just sit idle; participate in the service. “Amen” means so be it. So, whatever blessing that is proclaimed, learn to respond with an amen.
Sometimes just go to your pastor and ask him to bless you – ask him to speak into your life. You need it; it will take you to places. The words of a man of God have power to alter your destiny. A lot of believers have anointed men as their pastors and yet, they will not take advantage of the anointing present to bless them. Be smart! Be wise! The anointing on your pastor is for you. Go for it!
