Mark 16:17-18 And these signs shall follow them that believe; In my name shall they cast out devils; they shall speak with new tongues; They shall take up serpents; and if they drink any deadly thing, it shall not hurt them; they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.
Part of preaching of the gospel is miracles, healing the sick and casting out devils. You cannot detach the miraculous from the preaching of the gospel of Christ. Without the miraculous, we will just be telling a story about a certain Jesus with no proof. The miracles are the signature and attestation of God on our calling.
One time I heard about a great man of God who said, when it comes to healing the cripple, he will recommend it to another minister who has a healing ministry. When I heard that I was just stunned. Why would a man of God say such a thing? Will Jesus ever say that? Will Jesus ever refer a sick person to another pastor?
When certain ministers say that they are not called to heal the sick and cast out devils but others, I believe Jesus is shocked in heaven by that statement. There are ministers while they are ministering and someone is manifesting some demonic spirit, they will immediately ask that they take that fellow to the prayer band or some corner. We should rather be ashamed of ourselves of the kind of gospel we are preaching.
No wonder the devil is running rampage in our churches destroying God’s people. I have made a vow to God to cast out the devil anywhere I see him. I take full responsibility when I see the sick and the oppressed; I just know that I have to do something about the sufferings of people. You must take responsibility for the suffering of humanity. Enough of satan oppressing God’s people; someone has to stop him; and that person is you.
This is what Apostle said: Through mighty signs and wonders, by the power of the Spirit of God; so that from Jerusalem, and round about unto Illyricum, I have fully preached the gospel of Christ (Romans 15:19). Is this our testimony? Or have we reduced ourselves to motivational speakers? You don’t really need to be anointed to be a motivational speaker; any unbeliever can do that. But to preach the gospel with power demonstration, you must be anointed and operate in the miraculous.
When did you last pray for the sick and they got well? One cardinal reason the early church shook their world was the demonstration of the power of God in the preaching of the gospel. Philip went to Samaria alone and turned the whole city upside down. It is time we go to God and press for the release of power to chase that devil from our churches, families and communities.
