JESUS WASHES HIS CHURCH WITH HIS WORD

Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

One of the ministries of the word is that of washing and cleansing. That means the word has the ability to cleanse us of filth and dirt. In our opening scripture, the word is typified as water. And Jesus who is the head of the church washes His bride with His word. And the joyful thing is that, you can have this experience on a daily basis.

We are the body of Christ. In essence, Christ is Jesus and the church together. We are members of His bones and of His flesh. Christ is not complete without us – this is a mystery that is too hard for some folks to grasp. Christ is the head and we are His body. Can you separate a man’s head from His body? We are one with Him. The same life and power in Him flows through us.

Practically, how does Christ washes His church with His word? One of the ways He does is when we sit under the word being taught and preached. Anytime you go to church and the pastor teaches the true and authentic word of God with power, Christ is washing you. It is not the pastor who actually washes you; it is Christ who is washing you. Even in His exalted state, He is still serving you. Hallelujah!

This is why the pastor must know the word and teach the word in truth. Anytime you go to church, it is a time for Christ to wash you. We live in a world that is full of filth – I do not necessarily mean physical filth. What I mean is the philosophy and thinking of the world – we are dealing with arguments and concepts that opposes God’s ideology. There is just too much garbage making rounds. Too much unbelief being disseminated every where.

You need to constantly wash your mind with the word of God. If your mind is not sane, you will never live the victorious life in Christ. Your mind is the battlefield. This is where the devil seek to build his castles and strongholds to keep you in perpetual bondage. If you lose the battle there, you are finished. Use the word to build strongholds in your mind against satanic opposition.

Fill your mind with the word. There is nothing like sitting in church under an anointed teaching – it is like rain drops falling from heaven. Listening to anointed tapes and reading anointed books are also great ways of washing your mind. Let Christ your Lord, wash your mind with His word.
