THE SPIRIT FILLED LIFE

Ephesians 5:18‭-‬19 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬
19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord;

This is an instruction from the Spirit of God. He is instructing us to be filled with Him. That means this is something that we can actually participate in. He tells us what not to be filled with – do not be drunk with wine wherein excess. Then He tells us to be filled with the Spirit – what it means is to be drunk with the Spirit.

The Message translation says, “Don’t drink too much wine. That cheapens your life. Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him.” (Ephesians 5:18)
You can be filled with the Spirit. And to be filled with the Spirit is not a one-time experience; it is an everyday experience that any child of God can have.

Acts 2:4 says, “And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance.” This was the first instance the disciples were filled with the Holy Ghost.

On another occasion, the disciples were filled again with the Spirit. And when they had prayed, the place was shaken where they were assembled together; and they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and they spake the word of God with boldness (Acts 4:31). This tells you that being filled with the Holy Spirit is not a one-time experience but a continuous one.

One key to be filled with the Spirit is prayer, especially praying in other tongues. When the early church prayed, not only did the place of gathering shook, but they were also filled and drunk with the Holy Ghost. And what was the result? They spoke the word of God with boldness. Are you a timid person and shy in preaching the gospel? Get filled with the Spirit through effective prayer and your fears will disappear in an instant.

Live a consistent prayer life. Pray often. Speak in tongues more. Learn to sing praises to the Lord. Get into deep praise and worship. Let your life be continually filed with the Spirit and you will live an unending life of the supernatural and the miraculous.
