Philippians 2:12 Wherefore, my beloved, as ye have always obeyed, not as in my presence only, but now much more in my absence, work out your own salvation with fear and trembling.
Very often we seek to change others when we haven’t changed ourselves. Before you think of changing someone, find out if you have changed yourself. It is easier changing yourself than changing others.
True change begins with you. Until you change, no one around you will change. Something mysterious about change: when you change on the inside, things outside you automatically begin to change.
The wife who is seeking to change her husband should ask herself what necessary change she needs to do on herself first. In fact, don’t seek to change your spouse; seek to change yourself. When you change yourself, I guarantee you that it will begin to affect your spouse.
We can change our world. God has sent us to be agents of change. According to Jesus, we are the salt of the earth; we are the light of the world (Mathew 5:14-15). But we have to first seek to change our mindset and way of doing things so we can really impact our world with the gospel of Christ. Our mental processes and disposition need to change before we can change our world.
Sometimes we think others are the problem, whereas we are the problem. Self-deception is the greatest trap. Scripture says, examine yourself whether you are still in the faith (2 Corinthians 13:8). Do an honest appraisal of your life and see what changes you need to make in your life – not in the light of self-condemnation but to see what needs to be changed. Then take the word of God and correct all the deficiencies to conform to the glorious image of God who is Christ.
I have come to the realization that, the more I change, the more things around me changes. Our mindset and ways need to change; our habits need to change; our attitude need to change; our way of communication need to change. These are things that can keep a man on one spot for a long time, and deprive him from becoming all that God has destined him to be. God’s word is the tool for change. Take God’s word and make the necessary changes in your life today.
