2 Corinthians 13:5 Examine and test and evaluate your own selves to see whether you are holding to your faith and showing the proper fruits of it. Test and prove yourselves [not Christ]. Do you not yourselves realize and know [thoroughly by an ever-increasing experience] that Jesus Christ is in you–unless you are [counterfeits] disapproved on trial and rejected? AMPC

I love doing an appraisal of my life from time to time. It helps me to know where I am, how far I have come, and I what I need to do to get to where I am going in life. In the corporate world, appraisals are done from time to time to know the performance of staff, which in turn helps management to know who to promote, query or sack.

I believe that most people don’t really engage the tool of appraisal. Our opening scripture tells us to do an appraisal of our faith walk. It is very important that from time to time, you check your faith level, how far you have come in your faith walk – whether you are making progress or retrogressing.

It is just like a driver who uses his car everyday without examining the level of the oil and fuel. One day his car will just crash; it is just a matter of time. Many repeat this same sad scenario in their lives. They live their lives for so many years without doing an appraisal and checking the stats and figures.

We are in the last quarter of the year 2021. This is the best time of the year to do an appraisal of your life. Don’t just roll with the year. Take some time out and do some thinking. Check how far you have come spiritually, financially, and career wise or ministry, in this year 2021. Have you truly made any significant progress in Christ and your daily walk? What are your victories? What changes do you need to effect?

After you are done, celebrate your victories and give God glory for them. Strengthen areas of weakness. Then take actionable steps to effect the necessary changes that is needed. As you do this simple exercise by the Spirit, you will see your life move one level of glory to another.
