Luke 13:12-13 And when Jesus saw her, he called her to him, and said unto her, Woman, thou art loosed from thine infirmity. And he laid his hands on her: and immediately she was made straight, and glorified God.
Healing was a major part of the ministry of Jesus while He was on earth. Most of the miracles that Jesus performed were all healing miracles. Jesus healed blind eyes, caused the lame to walk, unstopped deaf ears, healed the maimed, caused the mute to speak etc.
The truth is that Jesus has not changed, for He is the same yesterday, today, and forever (Hebrews 13:8). What He did in Bible days, He is still doing them today. If Jesus was passionate about the health of people back then, He is still passionate about your healing today than ever before; He has not changed.
God’s desire is that we catch the passion of Jesus. The way Jesus was so passionate about the health of people, is not the way most preachers are passionate about the health of men today. I know that by just listening to them preach. What is in your heart will always come out anytime that you speak. And if healing and health doesn’t show forth in what you preach, then it is not in your heart. If you are not passionate about healing the sick, then it is not in your heart.
I believe Jesus wants us to continue from where He stopped in His healing ministry. He wants us to extend His healing business; He wants His compassion to the sick to flow through us. You do not need to have a healing gift to heal the sick. Every believer in Christ has the authority to heal the sick. All you need to do is to step out in boldness and heal the sick.
Jesus included healing the sick in the preaching of the gospel. You cannot separate healing the sick from the preaching of the gospel. Luke 10:9 says, “And heal the sick that are therein, and say unto them, The kingdom of God is come nigh unto you.” Mark 16:18 says, “........they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover.”
Thus if you claim you preach the gospel, and healing is not part of what you are doing, then, there is a big problem. Our world and even the church is filled with sick people. People are getting sick by the day. We need to stand up in the name of Jesus and heal the sick by the power of the Spirit.
