THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF CHRIST
THE VIRGIN BIRTH OF CHRIST

Mathew 1:23 Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God with us
Jesus was born by a virgin. This is what most people including religious people cannot receive. The virgin birth of Christ is one of the foundational doctrines of the church that we don’t need to compromise on it nor be apologetic about it.
Certain translations of the Bible uses the word “a young maid” instead of “virgin”. When you see such Bibles tear them apart and burn them to ashes. What they are trying to do is to demean the virgin birth of Christ. Jesus was born by a young woman who has never had any intercourse with any man.
It was important that Christ was born by a virgin. If Christ was not born by a virgin, then how do we ascertain that the pregnancy was of the Holy Ghost and not Joseph? We all know that in the natural, there is no way that a virgin can conceive; it does not exist. Thus for a virgin to conceive, then it must be miraculous and supernatural.
The virgin birth of Christ goes on to confirm the deity of Christ, being God and equal with the Father. The seed responsible for the birth of Christ was the Word of God. The word of God that the angel spoke to Mary brought forth Jesus. Jesus did not translate from heaven into Mary’s womb. Jesus is the word of God in flesh.
Even though Mary was the one who conceived and brought forth Jesus, there is no need to accord any form of worship to her of any kind that we see in some quarters. She was just a channel that God used to bring the Saviour into this world. Jesus is the only one who deserves worship.
Hundreds of years before Christ was born, the prophet Isaiah had already prophesied about the virgin birth of the Messiah. That authenticate and validate the virgin birth of Christ. Jesus is the Son of God; which implies that He is God.
Anyone who does not believe that Jesus was born by virgin is not a Christian. The virgin birth is everything to the church. And we are not supposed to compromise it in anyway. These truths must be fully established in you. In this season as we celebrate the birth of Christ, take the time to ponder over these things and it’s significance to you as a believer in Christ. Merry Christmas!
