Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.
I sincerely do believe that one of the secrets of the success of the ministry of Jesus was His connection to the Father through prayer. Prayer was an integral part of His success story. Jesus was in constant communion with the Father. He knew that the only way to win out there was to win in the secret place. Jesus had such a vital communion and fellowship with the Father through prayer. At the time when everyone was clamoring for His attention, He withdrew into the wilderness and prayed. Preacher, the time the crowds are calling for your attention and men are lining up to come to church, is the time to withdraw. If you don’t take care of your root, your fruit will soon be gone.
Luke 5:15 But so much the more went there a fame abroad of him: and great multitudes came together to hear, and to be healed by him of their infirmities. 16 And he withdrew himself into the wilderness, and prayed.
One time He spent an entire night praying.
Luke 6:12 And it came to pass in those days, that he went out into a mountain to pray, and continued all night in prayer to God.
Pastor Chris Oyakhilome once said, “Without prayer you are not in touch.” Prayer is what keeps us in touch with the rhythm of heaven. This is why every believer must make prayer something that is practiced on a consistent basis. We cannot do without prayer. Without it you are cut off from heaven’s agenda. For you to be relevant on earth, you have to get signals from heaven through prayer.
However, don’t be legalistic about prayer. To me prayer is not a work but a relationship; it is communion with grace. Prayer time is a time of fellowship and sharing and deep communion. Sometimes when I pray, it gets to a point that I can no longer explain the experience; it is beyond what any human vocabulary can communicate. This is one reason I love to pray. Prayer can be done at all times and everywhere. When you pray especially in tongues, you take your rest while God goes into work. God wants to work while you relax. Spend quality time praying in tongues and see God move swiftly into action. Enjoy your prayer time with Jesus. It is a relationship where you talk to your heavenly Father and He talks back to you. Prayer is not religion but a relationship.
