Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God: 9 Not of works, lest any man should boast.

What law did my daughter Charis need to obey in order to become my daughter? None! She was born as my child. What law does my daughter need to obey before she inherits my wealth? None! She is heir to my wealth because of birth. This is the way our relationship with God is. We were born to inherit the blessing. Christianity is all about sonship as opposed to slavery under the Old Covenant. Sonship liberates while slavery results in bondage.

Romans 4:13 For the promise, that he should be the heir of the world, was not to Abraham, or to his seed, through the law, but through the righteousness of faith. 14 For if they which are of the law be heirs, faith is made void, and the promise made of none effect:

Under the law you have to obey for God to bless you; but under grace, we inherit all of God’s blessings because of our sonship made possible by Jesus’ finished work. It is not what you do but who you are that determines the blessing. The woman bowed over for 18 years by the spirit of infirmity was freed because she was a daughter of Abraham.

Lukek 13:16 And ought not this woman, being a daughter of Abraham, whom Satan hath bound, lo, these eighteen years, be loosed from this bond on the sabbath day?

It is about ‘being’ and not ‘doing’. Who you are is more important than what you do. We ‘do’ because ‘we are’. Now our faith in God’s word only empowers us to release and manifest these blessings we have received by grace in Christ Jesus.
