LET JESUS BE YOUR MOTIVATION

Colossians 3:23 And whatsoever ye do, do it heartily, as to the Lord, and not unto men;
Jesus is Lord! That’s emphatic! And the whole world revolves around this beloved Son of God. He is before all things; and by Him all things consist; and in all things He must have the preeminence. Any action, word or deed that does not revolve around Jesus is not the real deal. Jesus must be center of all that we do.
Pastor Chris once said, “Let us do God’s things God’s way.” I have found out that statement to be so true. Our motivation for doing what we do is even much more important than the thing itself. Why do you do what you do? Why do you want to win souls? Why do you want to read 10 chapters of scriptures each day? Why do you want to start your own ministry? Why do you want to lead that song in church? Why do you want your church to grow?
Philemon 2:3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.
The reason why certain folks do the things they do in the body of Christ, is just absurd. There are people who started churches out of strife. I have heard of ministers who got away with the members of their senior Pastors to start a church. Some were transferred and refused the transfer and went on to start their own ministry. Others took the church they were given to Pastor from their Senior Pastors. Be careful you don’t labor in vain. Results do not equal divine sanction. God loves people; He may choose to use your ministry to bless others; but at the end you will be a loser.
If you don’t judge your motives before the Lord, many of the things you do for God will burn to ashes at the Judgment seat of Christ, where we will be judged for rewards and not for condemnation. If your work stands the test of fire, you will be rewarded; if it burns, you will lose greatly but your soul will be saved.
Whatever you do, let it bring glory to Jesus. Let Jesus be the center of all that you do. Do nothing out of self-interest and self-aggrandizement. Let Jesus be your motivation; don’t pursue vain glory and men’s approval and the praise of men – they will fade away. It is only what is built with gold, silver and precious stones that will stand the test of fire. Don’t let your works be burnt with fire. I admonish you: whether you preach, sing, give or do any charitable work, do it all to the glory of Jesus. Hallelujah!
