THE PRIEST THAT SPEAKS

Luke 24:50‭-‬51 And he led them out as far as to Bethany, and he lifted up his hands, and blessed them. And it came to pass, while he blessed them, he was parted from them, and carried up into heaven. KJV‬

The book of Saint Luke’s gospel opens with a dumb priest while it closes with a speaking priest. Scripture tells us that Zechariah the priest returned dumb from the temple after performing his duties. The people were waiting outside in the outer court for this priest to come and speak blessings over them. Unfortunately, their priest returned dumb hence no blessings that day.

In the closing chapter of the book of Luke, we are told about another priest after the order of Melchizedek, speaking blessings over His disciples while He departed from them to heaven. Hallelujah!

Unfortunately, in today’s church, there are priests who will stand in the pulpit and rain curses on their members. This ought not to be so. A priest was designed according to God’s plan to speak blessings over His people.

And the LORD spake unto Moses, saying, Speak unto Aaron and unto his sons, saying, On this wise ye shall bless the children of Israel, saying unto them, The LORD bless thee, and keep thee: The LORD make his face shine upon thee, and be gracious unto thee: The LORD lift up his countenance upon thee, and give thee peace. And they shall put my name upon the children of Israel; and I will bless them. Numbers 6:22‭-‬27 KJV‬

Priesthood is supposed to preserve God’s people. One declaration from a true man of God can alter the circumstances of man. Pastors must learn this secret: to speak blessings over God’s people anytime they gather in the presence of God.

Under the new covenant based on better promises, each one of us is also a priest. Learn to speak blessings over your life. Don’t curse your own destiny – that’s self destruction. If you say things like, I will not amount to anything in life; this business may not work; this sickness will kill me, you may end up destroying your precious life that Jesus died to give to you. Lift your voice and speak blessings over your life. If you close your mouth, you have closed your destiny. Speak blessings only everyday over your life.
