LIVING RIGHT EFFORTLESSLY

2 Corinthians 5:21 For he hath made him to be sin for us, who knew no sin; that we might be made the righteousness of God in him.

Right living and righteousness in the New Testament light are not synonymous. Right living is doing what is right while righteousness is God’s acceptance of sinful men through faith in the finished work of Christ; and it is a free gift. We do not live right to become righteous. On the contrary, we live right because we are righteous. Hence our right living is an outgrowth or product of the nature of righteousness we have received from God by faith.

This thinking is different from what most believers have believed over the years. For most believers, you have to live right in order to become righteous and accepted before God. But this is opposite of what Jesus brought to us. Christ became sin that we might be made the righteousness of God. God accepts us on the basis of the finished work of Christ. This acceptance is what empowers us to live right. We do not struggle to live right. It is our nature to live right.

Christ has redeemed us from sin. Sin has been defeated and completely rendered paralyzed by Jesus hence sin is not a problem for the believer. Don’t be surprised by these bold statements. This is emphatic! There is no need to struggle to live right. Struggling with sin is unnecessary in the New Testament for they that are of Christ have crucified the flesh and its affections (Galatians 5:24). You have to believe this irrespective of what you have done or feel. The more you do, grace will be released for you to live beyond sin. Because when you are under grace, sin will no longer lord it over you.

Romans 6:14 For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace.

And in your bid to live right, in case you fall, dust yourself and move on with God. Don’t let the devil use condemnation and guilt to keep you bound. Receive God’s grace today and as you expose yourself to grace teachings and grace consciousness, you will reign in this life over all devils. Praise God!
