WE ARE TO SURPASS THE GREATNESS OF OUR FATHERS

Deuteronomy 30:5 And the LORD thy God will bring thee into the land which thy fathers possessed, and thou shalt possess it; and he will do thee good, and multiply thee above thy fathers.
This scripture is such a blessing. It shows us God’s plan for His kids. God has promised to bless us than our fathers. It is my humble opinion that the younger generation should do more than the older one – this is simple scripture. Thank God for all the mighty moves we have seen in the church over the decades – we are grateful to God for all the men He has used to bring such a tremendous blessing to us.
But God is telling us that, I want to bless you more than your fathers. That means we should do more than the Kenneth Hagin, Kenneth Copeland, David Oyedepo, Pastor Chris Oyakhilome, and all the great men of God that have gone by; this is God’s will for us. Sometimes when you look at what these men have accomplished by their faith, it looks so intimidating, and you wonder whether anyone can surpass these greatness!
The truth is that it is possible; there is no limit in God. To say we cannot exceed what they’ve done is to say that God is limited. If we don’t do more than our fathers, it is a picture of backwardness and not progress. The church ought to be progressive. There is always more to be done. We are to surpass the greatness of our fathers; and our children are to surpass our greatness. It is only a wicked father who wants his children to be lesser than himself. Every good father loves to see his children do well.
The standard ought to be raised in every generation. This is God’s will for us. The life we have received in Christ is from glory to glory. This is by no means competing with older generations. It is simply God’s plan for His children; and we are to embrace it with all humility. Let us celebrate the greatness of our fathers. But let us believe God to surpass their greatness. Praise God.
