Revelation 5:5 And one of the elders saith unto me, Weep not: behold, the Lion of the tribe of Juda, the Root of David, hath prevailed to open the book, and to loose the seven seals thereof.
Judah was associated with the lion; the lion was their symbol. And Jesus descended from the tribe of Judah, being a descendant of David. This is interesting. In the same book of Revelation, Jesus is described as the Lamb of God. Now we are seeing Him as a lion from our theme scripture. These are the many sidedness of Jesus, the Son of the living God.
When He was with little children, His lamb’s nature was revealed. When Jesus came face to face with demons, the lion nature in Him came alive. No wonder the devils trembled at His presence and begged not to be destroyed. “Art thou come to destroy us before our time?” was the confession of the demons Jesus confronted when He walked the earth. The devil tries to parade himself as a lion but he is not – Jesus is the true lion.
When Jesus spoke, the wind ceased and there was a great calm; He walked on water; He multiplied five loaves and two fishes to feed 5000 men besides women and children; with one word He casted out many devils; He called forth a man who has been dead for four days and he came out alive.
Our true nature is revealed in Jesus’ life. When you look at the earthly life of Jesus, all He demonstrated was a picture of what we should look like. Jesus is our perfect example. We are not supposed to live below what He did. His very life is in us. He even told us to do greater works than what He did.
John 14:12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.
The more we see Jesus and all that He did on earth, the more we see ourselves. He is our portrait of what we should look like. If the devils bowed to Him, they are supposed to bow to us; if the wind and storms obeyed His voice, they are supposed to obey us. There is a lion nature in you; let it come alive. You are a lion; for as he is in heaven, so are we in this world. You are not weak; you are not broke or poor. God made you more powerful than anything in this world. Start talking and acting like a lion. Be bold. Be courageous. Be fearless for greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world (1 Jn 4:4).
