Isaiah 58:1 ¶ Cry aloud, spare not, lift up thy voice like a trumpet, and shew my people their transgression, and the house of Jacob their sins.

Being able to rightly divide between law and grace will greatly enhance the believer’s understanding of the scriptures. That’s what it means to rightly divide the word. And if you are not able to rightly divide between law and grace, then you are in big trouble. Today in the New Testament, someone can take a scripture like this and beat people with it. The Lord spoke to me one day and said, “I have not call any man to remind my people of their sins.” This sounds contradictory to our opening scripture. From a New Testament position, it is scripture and does not contradict it at all. This is one truth you need to know: the Old Testament and the New Testament do not contradict each other. Each stands on its own – they are both based on different terms and conditions.

The essence of the law is to show what sin is for by the law is the knowledge of sin (Romans 3:20). Prior to the law, sin was not truly revealed. It was the law that made sin come alive. The law was not given to justify men but to show how sinful man was. Hence any teaching that shows God’s people their sins is based on the law, and thus, it is not New Testament oriented. God Himself said, in this New Testament I will not remember their sins and iniquities any more.

Hebrews 8:12 For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.

Why are preachers then remembering God’s people of their sins? And the more we do that the more they fall into the cycle of sinning. All through the Old Testament, most of the preaching was to show Israel’s sins and transgressions. Micah 3:8 says “But truly I am full of power by the spirit of the LORD, and of judgment, and of might, to declare unto Jacob his transgression, and to Israel his sin”._ However, in the New Testament all of this has changed because of the cross. I love what Joseph Prince said: God is waiting for a priesthood that will rise and pronounce His people clean. I believe I am one of those priests God is raising in these last days to do that. Praise God!

Songs of Solomon 4:7 Thou art all fair, my love; there is no spot in thee.

One primary assignment of the Holy Spirit is to convict the believer of righteousness in Christ and not sin (John 16:10). He convicts the world of sin – sin of not believing in Jesus (John 16:9). Jesus before His ascension commanded us to preach the gospel; and in this gospel is revealed the righteousness of God from faith to faith, and not sin (Romans 1:17). This is what we are to preach and teach with all boldness. Paul preached it; the Apostles preached it. This is our time to preach the gospel of grace and declare to a dying world the loveliness of Jesus and the beauty of His finished work. You are righteous and holy and without blame apart from your performance.

*_Colossians 1:21-22 says, “And you, that were sometime alienated and enemies in your mind by wicked works, yet now hath he reconciled 22 In the body of his flesh through death, to present you holy and unblameable and unreproveable in his sight.”_* This is how God sees you – see yourself that way.
