DON'T BREAK THE DIVINE HEDGE AROUND YOU

Who led thee through that great and terrible wilderness, wherein were fiery serpents, and scorpions, and drought, where there was no water; who brought thee forth water out of the rock of flint; Deuteronomy 8:15 KJV

The more I relate to a lot of folks in the church, the more I know that most of them don’t know their inheritance in Christ Jesus – probably they were not taught properly; many are ignorant of the many advantages they have in Christ. One of the many inheritance we have in Christ is “the divine hedge”. This is the protective power of God over His people.

From our opening scripture, we have a vivid picture of Israel’s journey from Egypt to the promise Land through the wilderness. We are told that there were fiery serpents and scorpions in the great and terrible wilderness. And yet, God preserved His people.

While on their journey to the promise Land, the people murmured and complained against God and Moses; for this reason fiery serpents broke out and bit many of them and they died. Now, you have to know that these serpents did not come from nowhere to bite the people. These serpents were there in the wilderness all this while according to our opening scripture. The difference was that there was a divine hedge around Israel that shielded them.

Through their ignorance, they broke the hedge by murmuring and complaining. Israel in this context is a type of the church journeying through this world with all kinds of wickedness. What destroys men does not come out of nowhere – they have been there. What the devil does is that he looks for an opportune time and access given to him by men to strike. The devil needs your permission to strike in your life; that is why he seeks access (1 Peter 5:8).

As long as the divine hedge is around you, the devil cannot harm you; you have to believe this truth. There are folks living in this world as if satan does not exist – yeah it is true. The saints reign through knowledge – the knowledge of the word of God.

You have to be conscious of the Divine hedge that is around you 24/7. You have angels that have encamped around you (Psalm 34:7). You have the blood covering. Don’t break the hedge through your ignorance by making the wrong confessions, engaging in strife and unforgiveness, entertaining thoughts of fear, doubting God’s word, living outside the word of God, walking in dishonour etc.

……Whoso breaketh an hedge, a serpent shall bite him. (Ecclesiastes 10:8)

As long as your two feet is on God’s word, you will be far from oppression, it will be as though you are not in the world. The serpents in this world cannot bite you. Believe me! You are seated with Christ in the heavenly places far above all principality, and power, and might, and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this world, but also in that which is to come (Ephesians 1:21). Glorious things! Hallelujah!
