THE OIL OF GLADNESS

Psalm 45:7 Thou lovest righteousness, and hatest wickedness: therefore God, thy God, hath anointed thee with the oil of gladness above thy fellows. KJV

May you receive the oil of gladness in the name of Jesus Christ. If there is a spirit of heaviness or depression, there is also the spirit of joy and gladness – the oil of gladness. This implies that joy is also a spirit.

Our theme scripture is a Messianic Psalm that spoke about Jesus being anointed with the oil of gladness. Even Jesus needed the oil of gladness to be successful on the Earth. There are places in scripture that we are told that Jesus rejoiced.

Luke 10:21 In that hour Jesus rejoiced in spirit, and said, I thank thee, O Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that thou hast hid these things from the wise and prudent, and hast revealed them unto babes: even so, Father; for so it seemed good in thy sight. KJV

Even though today Jesus is no more on Earth, we can take this scripture and put ourselves in His place. Today in Christ, by Jesus' finished work, we have become partakers of His nature and life. Thus what is good for Jesus is good for us too. If Jesus needed the oil of gladness, I believe we need it more now than ever.

This oil of gladness will cause you to be full of joy unspeakable – sadness and depression will be far from you. And since joy is strength, you will be full of strength for exploits. Refuse the sad life of depression. Ask the Holy Spirit to anoint you afresh with the oil of gladness which will put you over far above your fellows. Hallelujah!
