KEEP TALKING FAITH

Numbers 13:30-31 And Caleb stilled the people before Moses, and said, Let us go up at once, and possess it; for we are well able to overcome it. 31 But the men that went up with him said, We be not able to go up against the people; for they are stronger than we.

Another story that greatly illustrates faith is the story of the twelve spies who went out to spy out the land of promise. The Bible declares that ten of the men brought an evil report while only two brought good news. Both of these groups of people saw the same thing – the giants, how blessed the land was – but only two of them could see themselves possessing the land.

To begin with they left Egypt in order to go to the promise land and not to wander in the wilderness – the destination was the promise land. They had God with them hence there was no problem. It was God who asked them to go to possess the land; all they needed to do was to believe and go in for the kill. The evil report of the ten men polluted the whole camp that they were not ready to hear what Joshua and Caleb were saying – it looks like bad news sells faster than good news.

Anyway God wasted that whole generation for forty years in the wilderness, except for Joshua and Caleb who had the eyes of faith to believe that they were able to take the land. Only the two of all that evil generation went into the promise land. This is the danger of unbelief – it inhibits you from entering into the rest of God and possessing your inheritance in Christ Jesus. The other ten spies had a negative confession while the other two had a positive confession.

Leaders should be careful what they allow to be spoken either in the pulpit or among meetings, especially in leadership meetings. Leaders should strive to get all their team members speaking the language of faith. This will bring tremendous results into the church. Leaders should stand against any talk of unbelief. Any talk of unbelief that is left to go unchecked, will destroy the morale of the church thereby wreaking havoc in the process. Faith is so vital in everything we do. Confessions like “we can’t, we are not able; we don’t have the resources; we are too small to do this” should be banished from our lips. We serve a big and mighty God. Let’s speak His language which is faith. Faith is so powerful. It can create anything that we want.

The devil is so subtle that if you are not careful, even faith people could be walking in unbelief and not know it. That voice comes very silently and undetectable; it will take the Holy Ghost for you to be able to detect it. The ten spies stated the obvious; they only saw the giants; they didn’t see the victory. Joshua and Caleb saw themselves possessing the land; they saw the giants as grasshoppers while the ten spies saw themselves as grasshoppers.
