THE ANOINTING SANCTIFIES

2022 The Year Of OverflowTHE ANOINTING SANCTIFIES

Leviticus 8:12 And he poured of the anointing oil upon Aaron's head, and anointed him, to sanctify him.

An understanding of the anointing will greatly enhance our walk with God. Many of God’s children don’t know the anointing. Some think it is falling under the power – that’s an effect of the anointing. There are manifestations of the anointing which may include holy laughter, healing, miracles and wonders. The anointing is God’s power that comes via the Holy Spirit. The anointing is spirit; it is not the anointing oil. When it comes on the anointing oil, that oil can now do wonders.

1 John 2:27 But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

One blessed thing the anointing does is to sanctify men into divine offices. To sanctify means to set apart for sacred purposes. In our theme scripture, we were told the anointing oil was poured on Aaron and he was sanctified to serve in the priestly office. Someone like King Uzziah who did not have the anointing for priesthood and tried to function in the office of the priest, saw his sacrifice rejected by God; and he left the temple a leper.

Acts 20:28 Take heed therefore unto yourselves, and to all the flock, over the which the Holy Ghost hath made you overseers, to feed the church of God, which he hath purchased with his own blood.

This scripture tells us that it is the Holy Ghost that made them Overseers (Pastors). No one can call himself into any ministerial office in the body of Christ. Ephesians 4:11 tells us, Jesus gave some Apostles, Prophets, Evangelist, Pastors and Teachers for the perfecting of the saints. It is Jesus who gives these ministerial gifts through the Holy Spirit.

Hebrews 5:4 And no man taketh this honour unto himself, but he that is called of God, It is an honour to be called of God. And it is only the Spirit that sets men apart for these holy offices. You cannot make yourself a Prophet, Pastor or an Apostle. It is the Holy Ghost who makes. Some put on the title “Pastor”; and when they are tired they change to Apostle or Prophet. We should all give due reverence to the various offices in the body of Christ. And let us also honour and revere those the Holy Ghost has set them apart for these offices. If the Holy Ghost sets you apart for an office, be rest assured that all the power, wisdom, grace and abilities you will require will be available for you. On the other hand, if you sanctify yourself into any of these holy offices, be sure you will suffer a lot of friction, as grace will not be available for effective ministry. Whatever calling that the Lord has called you into, stay in it, and with diligence, you will make an impact on the world for Jesus. Praise God!
