TAKE YOUR POSSESSION IN CHRIST
TAKE YOUR POSSESSION IN CHRIST

Deuteronomy 2:24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.
The fact that you own something does not necessarily mean that you have taken possession of it. Owning something and possessing it are two different things. There are folks who rightly own a property but are not enjoying it because, they are not in possession of it. It is the man who is in possession of the property that enjoys it. To own something means the thing belongs to you legally and lawfully.
On the other hand, to possess something means to seize it or lay hold on it or be in control of that object in question. The word “possess” is from the Hebrew word “yarash” which means to occupy by driving out previous tenants, and possessing in their place; it also means to seize, to rob, to inherit. Even in the natural, there are folks who bought a land rightfully but ended up losing it to some wicked folk. Many have had their inheritance taken away from them by unscrupulous folks.
God gave the land of Canaan to Israel when He gave it to Abraham the patriarch. Hence the land was theirs lawfully. But that did not mean that they were in control of the land. In fact, there were squatters inhabiting the land. So in order for them to take possession of the land, they had to drive out those unlawful inhabitants. Israel spent 430 years in Egypt. All these while these squatters were enjoying the good of the land. Even though Israel owned the land by right, they were in slavery and bondage in another man’s land. Even when they came out of Egypt, they had to contend with all these nations before they were able to take possession of their lawful inheritance.
This is a clear picture of the lives of many believers around the world. The redemptive work of Christ has brought to us all things that we need for life and godliness; and yet many are still languishing in sickness, poverty, and all kinds of oppressions. The good life that Jesus brought to us has eluded many. Christ by His death willed to us all His riches in glory.
Hebrews 9:16-17 For where a testament is, there must also of necessity be the death of the testator. For a testament is of force after men are dead: otherwise it is of no strength at all while the testator liveth.
Jesus is our testator. While He walked the earth, we couldn’t possess His estate. All that He had could not be ours. But the moment Jesus died on the cross, all of His estate has now been willed to us; and now we are the inheritors of His estate. All that He has belongs to us lawfully. This implies that we are not supposed to suffer sickness, diseases, poverty, lack, death and the likes. Now rise up and begin to enter your inheritance by faith by believing and confessing what Jesus has brought to you. Hallelujah!
