THE DEVIL GOES ABOUT LIKE A ROARING LION

Proverbs 20:2 The fear of a king is as the roaring of a lion: whoso provoketh him to anger sinneth against his own soul.
In battle, in order to be able to beat your adversary, you have to know your enemy very well. You have to know his weaknesses and strengths as well as his strategies and battle plan. The devil is the believer’s adversary; in fact, he is our arch enemy. The devil is not your friend; make no mistake about it.
One of satan’s weapon that he uses very well to beat God’s people is condemnation. Scripture calls him the accuser of the brethren. Our opening scripture tells us that, the fear of a king is as a roaring lion. God is king. And scripture also tells us that, the devil, your adversary goes about like a roaring lion, looking for whom to devour (1 Peter 5:8). This tells you something.
When you put all of this together, the deduction is that satan uses God’s wrath to punish people. He tells you that because of that sin you committed the other day, God is mad at you; that don’t even try to pray because God will not hear you. And interestingly there are scriptures in the Old Testament that supports that. One scripture says, if I regard iniquity in my heart, the Lord will not hear me (Psalm 66:18).
But you see the cross has changed everything. Our right standing before God is no longer based on our works but on the sure work of Christ on the cross. God hears our prayers today because of Jesus. This is one reason we pray in the name of Jesus. We are accepted on the account of Jesus.
Don’t let satan keep you in bondage for some sin you might have committed. One sin you committed, you have prayed for forgiveness several times; and you keep beating yourself, feeling guilty and unworthy. And you are indulging in punishing yourself. Beloved, God has forgiven all your sins because of Jesus. No matter what you have committed, God still accepts you. He sees you pure and holy. You heard me right! Dust yourself and get back with God. Don’t accept the condemnation and the roaring satan is roaring against you. Remember, condemnation kills but the spirit (grace) gives life.
