For sin shall not have dominion over you: for ye are not under the law, but under grace. Romans 6:14 KJV
I heard of a disturbing news of how a leader of a fellowship on one of the campuses in the country, slept with several of the ladies in the fellowship. And his basis for doing that was because, as a new creation in Christ Jesus, sin does not affect your spirit. This guy is really sick and needs a mental check up; he truly lack the understanding of the grace gospel.
It is true that sin can’t affect the recreated human spirit. Your spirit has been perfected (Hebrews 10:14). But that shouldn’t be the basis for living a sinful lifestyle; rather it should be our springboard for victory. Most people don’t have the full revelation of scripture hence their misguided interpretation, which in turn affects the outcome of their lives, and thereby destroying them in the process.
According to our opening scripture, the true evidence of grace is that sin shall not have the dominion over you. Thus if someone is living a sinful lifestyle under the guise of grace, it is evidential that, that fellow don’t know the glorious gospel of grace.
Titus 2:11-12 says, “For the grace of God that bringeth salvation hath appeared to all men, Teaching us that, denying ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world.” According to this scripture, the grace of God teaches men to deny ungodliness. If you know the grace of God in truth, you will deny an ungodly lifestyle.
Grace gives you power over sin. Jesus did not come to die to make you a slave of sin; rather He died to deliver you from sin and its effects. The more of the grace of God you know and receive, the more sin will not lord it over you, and the more you will reign in life.
Let us stay in the balance of scripture. There is no where in scripture that God says, it is okay to sin. The same scripture that tells us that we have been forgiven of all sins tells us to abstain from all evil and flee youthful lusts. Many are just not paying attention to the whole counsel of God.
