GROW IN WISDOM

Pastor Victor
Luke 2:52 And Jesus increased in wisdom and stature, and in favour with God and man.
Years ago, as young hungry believers in Christ, we devoured everything we stumbled upon. It was those times I first read the entire book of God’s Generals, first edition, by Robert Liardon. I remember we also read all kinds of poison in the process of seeking and searching for truth, wanting to know God the more.
One of the poisons I stumbled upon was how one dear minister taught about if a fellow brother is sick, you can help limit the burden by asking the Lord to help you share in the pain of that sickness of the other fellow. I remember a dear lady sharing her experience how she wanted to share in a brother’s pain and asked the Lord to be part of that pain; the result was that she nearly had a break down.
It wasn’t God who made her felt that pain; it was the devil who took advantage of her ignorance and afflicted her. Brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, there is nowhere in scripture that we are told to carry another man’s sins or sickness. Only Jesus qualified to do that; and He did it perfectly, leaving no stone unturned.
It is good to be hungry as a young believer. The danger part of this is that if this hunger is not properly guided, just like little children, you could swallow all kinds of poison that may limit your growth and effectiveness or destroy you altogether. The hunger and zeal in young believers is a great blessing; but it must be guided by a good pastor or a matured believer in Christ; this is where effective discipleship is important.
Every believer ought to grow and mature in the things of God. As I grew in the Lord and got wiser, I realized how I had swallowed poisons that could have killed my faith and destroyed me. *_Psalms 119:98 says, “Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies: for they are ever with me.”_* The word is the tool to make wise. The more you know the word, the wiser and discerning that you become. Today, I filter everything that I read and hear through God's word, to remove the poisons and gather in the good grain.
Every young believer and all believers must have a good pastor who knows the word of God; it will save you years of pain and sorrows. Also, scattered across the body of Christ are anointed teachers of the word that can help you grow fast and get matured in the things of God. As you grow in the word, there comes a time where you will begin to find your balance and rhythm in your walk of faith. I counsel you in the name of the Lord Jesus to grow in wisdom.
