Proverbs 16:22 Understanding is a wellspring of life unto him that hath it: but the instruction of fools is folly.

You will have to understand why you are giving. You must get to know the purpose of giving and how it can be done effectively. Giving is done effectively when you understand the subject and to understand a subject, you will have to do it intentionally. Understanding don’t just come to you; you have to seek for it.

THE FOOD THAT IS SAFE FOR YOU

Ezekiel 44:31 The priests shall not eat of any thing that is dead of itself,...... whether it be fowl or beast.

Not all food are safe. There are foods that kill. What you feed as a believer in Christ will eventually determine the outcome of your life. If you feed on the wrong messages, your life will go in the wrong direction. One wrong message can destroy your entire life. Jesus told us to take heed to what we hear.

THE POWER OF REMEMBRANCE

Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

Our opening scripture is not a promise of prosperity to God’s people. I know we use this scripture a lot when we teach on financial prosperity but the truth is that it is not a promise. Rather it is a warning to God’s people not to forget God in their prosperity.

John 6:63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.

The word of God is eternal and never loses its power, strength, relevance and effectiveness. Unlike natural resources that depletes with time, the word never depletes in power. Its power is consistent throughout all ages.

BE A MAN WHO CARES

Among all the captives of Judah in Babylon, it was only Daniel who cared much about the liberation of Judah from captivity. Many of the Jews had become comfortable with the life in Babylon till they had forgotten what really mattered, the land of their nativity.

THE GENTILES WERE NOT GIVEN A LAW

Romans 3:30‭-‬31 Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith. Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law.‬‬

It is sad to see Gentile Christians advocating for the keeping of the law of Moses. How do you keep something that was not given to you? According to the scriptures, the law was given to the Jews on Mount Sinai and it was a covenant that God made with only Israel and not with the rest of the world. The trouble with most believers is that, when we read the Bible, we don’t know what was written to who – we just combine everything – we are not able to rightly divide the truth.

WISDOM FOR REIGNING

Proverbs 18:15-16 By me kings reign, and princes decree justice. By me princes rule, and nobles, even all the judges of the earth.

Someone hears that a fellow emptied his bank account and sowed it as a seed and got his breakthrough, so he too goes ahead and does the same. When nothing happens, then he becomes frustrated and vent his anger on the preacher and God.

THE WAR OF WORDS

2 Corinthians 10:3-4 For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war after the flesh: (For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty through God to the pulling down of strong holds;)

Scriptures has already told us that our warfare is not carnal – that is, our battles are unseen. Hence it will be unwise to use physical weapons to fight spiritual battles.
