DEAD TO SIN, ALIVE UNTO RIGHTEOUSNESS

1 Peter 2:24 Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

It is just good to study the scripture again and again. The more you do, the more you get new levels of insights and revelations. One morning as I read this scripture, God began to quicken stuff in my spirit. In our theme scripture we were told that Jesus Himself bore our sins in His own body on the tree. That's wonderful. But the question is, why did He do it? The answer is right there in the same scripture: that we, being dead to sins, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed.

Firstly, His death caused us to die to sin. Today, we are not supposed to die to sin again. I know there are those who are struggling with sin. And they claim that we are supposed to die to sin. Absolutely no. Here, God is not giving us an instruction to die to sin. The Holy Ghost is telling us what has happened on the cross for us; that we are dead (past tense) to sin.

DISOBEDIENCE WILL COST YOU GREATLY

Isaiah 1:28 And the destruction of the transgressors and of the sinners shall be together, and they that forsake the Lord shall be consumed.

There is no blessing in walking disobedience. Disobedience will cost you greatly. The smartest thing to do in life is to obey God promptly. All the suffering humanity is suffering today, and those of generations past, are all as a result of one man’s disobedience. One disobedience from Adam plunged the whole world into darkness and total chaos. Little did Adam know the impact of his disobedience.

From our theme scripture, we are told that the destruction of sinners and transgressors shall be together. The word sinners implies those who are not born again; while the word transgressors are those who even though are born again, they are walking against the word of God. What God is saying is that even though they are born again, if they walk in disobedience, they will suffer the same thing sinners suffer.

2 Chronicles 20:1‭-‬2 It came to pass after this also, that the children of Moab, and the children of Ammon, and with them other beside the Ammonites, came against Jehoshaphat to battle.

The fact that you are good does not necessarily mean that you will not face battles. If you don’t believe this simple truth then you are delusional. Bad things happens to good people; that’s the fact of life; and you have to embrace it. Sometimes when something bad happens to someone, the first question folks will ask is, what wrong did he do? The fact that you are good does not mean the devil will leave you alone.

From our theme scripture, we are told of the story of king Jehoshaphat. In my estimation, king Jehoshaphat is one of the finest kings of Judah, after David. He was not only a good man but a godly man. He was a man that feared God. He was a true leader who turned Judah’s heart back to their God. He instructed the Levites everywhere to teach God’s people the laws of God. He was a king who enquired from God.

YOUR SEED IS YOUR POWER

YOUR SEED IS YOUR POWER

Deuteronomy 8:18 But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day.

How joyful it is to know that you can be in control of your financial life. Your power is in your seed. Your power is not in any government or financial policy of the world. Your power is in your seed; your seed is your power thus you cannot be disadvantaged.

If you have your seed, you don't need to beg anyone for a harvest because your harvest is in your hand; all you need to do is to plant it. The man with a seed is in control because your seed puts you in charge. The man without a seed is in trouble. He cannot dictate his harvest. He is not in control.

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Faith is what pleases God. While Jesus walked the face of the earth He wasn’t looking for good works – His focus was faith. Many of the folks Jesus healed were not perfect people – in fact not one of them was perfect. It is amazing! Jesus was busy teaching the word; certain men brought in a ,man sick of the palsy; Jesus stopped His teaching when He saw faith in action and began ministering to the man.

Throughout the gospels, faith is the only element that was able to stop Jesus in His tracks. Anytime He saw faith He was attracted to it. Of all the people thronging Jesus on that faithful day it was the faith of the woman with the issue of blood that was able to penetrate that thick crowd and attract Jesus’ attention.
