THE DEFAULT MODE OF THE BELIEVER IN CHRIST

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

When we talk about the default mode of an object, we are talking about the real or original state of that object. For the believer in Christ, your default mode is victory. You are born of God and you have overcome the world. You are not trying to overcome the world; and this is the reason why you can overcome any circumstance you face in life. You are an irresistible force.

The default mode of the believer is divine health. Sickness and diseases are not part of Christ’s redemptive provision. Christ took all your sickness in His own body when those stripes were laid on Him. Sickness is not your default mode. Thus when sickness attacks you, you should quickly switch to your default mode which is divine health. Refuse to be sick.

DON'T SWITCH INTO VICTIM MODE!

1 John 5:4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.

In life it is either you are a victim or a Victor. You cannot be neutral. And you are the one to decide where you belong. It is not God who decides those who succeed and those who fail. Those who believe that God is the one who decides whether you fail or succeed have switched into the victim mode.

Unfortunately, in the body of Christ, many have switched into the victim mode. There are those who believe that “whatever will be will be”. They say things like, if God wants me to succeed I will succeed no matter what, as long as God wants them to succeed. They say things like if God wants me to have so and so thing, I will have it.

All the aforementioned assertions are not true. They are communication of victims. Just reason: do you think there is anyone that God destined to be poor or a failure? Absolutely no! God’s plan for all men is prosperity and salvation. God desires that all should be saved. The question is, are all men saved? The answer is an emphatic no.

GET INSTRUCTED IN THE THINGS OF GOD

UnderstandingTheLordsSupperGET INSTRUCTED IN THE THINGS OF GOD

Matthew 13:52 Then said he unto them, Therefore every scribe which is instructed unto the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which bringeth forth out of his treasure things new and old.

Some few years ago, I came across this scripture; it greatly inspired me; and it has stuck with me over the years. When you look at the body of Christ in general, and you observe the communication and attitude of some believers, one thing comes to mind: they have not been instructed enough in the scriptures. The benefits of being instructed in the word of God is immeasurable and beyond description.

When you hear folks say things like, “I am sick”, you just know this fellow has not been taught the word. The man who has been so instructed in the word cannot make this kind of confession. It implies this kind of negative confession cannot proceed from their lips. It is not a matter of “it will not come out”; it just “cannot come out of his mouth” simply because he has been conditioned by the word.

MAKE CHURCH ATTENDANCE YOUR PRIORITY

Hebrews 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.

Attending church regularly will make a champion out of you. It is the wisdom of God to put you over in life. Church attendance is not man’s idea; it is something that God Himself designed for our benefit. And from our opening scripture, He commands us not to forsake church meetings. Something interesting in that theme scripture: as the manner of some is. It implies that there are folks who habitually skip church services. God commands us not to follow their ungodly example.

In this day where technology can bring live church services into your home, some believers have form the habit of not going to church; they claim they are worshipping God with the Pastor on television. That’s nonsense! That minister of God is not your Pastor; he does not know you.

ABIDE WITH GRACE AND YOU WILL BE SAFEGUARDED

1 Samuel 22:23 Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard.

After David killed Goliath of Gath, Saul became jealous and sought to kill him. Saul persecuted David from city to city. On one occasion, David went to Ahimilech in the city of Nob, and Ahimelech gave David hallowed bread and the sword of Goliath. An Edomite by the name Doeg reported the matter to king Saul; and Saul commanded Doeg to kill all the priests of Nob, only a certain young priest named Abiathar escaped. And Abiathar ran to David and David told him that, Abide thou with me, fear not: for he that seeketh my life seeketh thy life: but with me thou shalt be in safeguard (1 Sam 22:23).

These were comforting words to Abiathar; however, God is still speaking it to us today. Abiathar is gone but we can put our name there and receive those strong comforting words. Here in this story David is a type of Christ hence grace. The message God is telling us is that, if we will abide with grace, we will be safeguarded from all the harshness and oppressions of life. Abiathar was obedient and stayed on with David all through his persecutions. Later on when David became king, Abiathar became the chief priest. Hallelujah!
