1 Corinthians 14:1 Follow after charity, and desire spiritual gifts, but rather that ye may prophesy.

I remember reading Luke 6:12 about Jesus praying alone all through the night; I desired an experience like that. I am not talking about corporate all night. I am talking about personal praying all through the night. I meditated on that scripture so many times till one day I stepped into that glory experience. I prayed from 12:00am – 6:00am. Ever since, I have spent several nights praying. Hallelujah! The word works!

DISCERN THE LORD'S BODY

1 Corinthians 11:29‭-‬30 For he that eateth and drinketh unworthily, eateth and drinketh damnation to himself, not discerning the Lord's body. For this cause many are weak and sickly among you, and many sleep.‬‬

The theme scripture talks about Christ’s body in the light of the Lord’s supper but Christ’s body also means the church and unfortunately many don’t discern the body of Christ. What do I mean? According to our opening scripture, those who do not discern (make a difference) or judge rightly the Lord’s body, end up getting weak, sick and die. This is serious!

Sometime ago, I read a book titled _“Pastoral Ministry”_ by Bishop Dag Heward Mills, one of the finest Pastors in the country and in that book, he narrated how he started a church as a medical student. Running a church and being a medical student is very demanding. Pursuing a medical training is demanding, let alone adding ministry to it which is also very demanding in nature.

TITHING EXISTED LONG BEFORE MALACHI 3

Genesis 14:20 And blessed be the most high God, which hath delivered thine enemies into thy hand. And he gave him tithes of all.

One time a fellow told me that he used to tithe, but now his eyes are opened, so he doesn’t tithe anymore; this is actually spiritual blindness. Many of these people are only looking for a way to not give to God. There may be something wrong with the way some people may be preaching and receiving tithe but there is absolutely nothing wrong with the subject of tithing in the New Testament – it is still a valid teaching that promises great blessings to those who practice it.

JESUS WASHES HIS CHURCH WITH HIS WORD

Ephesians 5:26 That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word,

One of the ministries of the word is that of washing and cleansing. That means the word has the ability to cleanse us of filth and dirt. In our opening scripture, the word is typified as water and Jesus who is the head of the church washes His bride with His word and the joyful thing is that, you can have this experience on a daily basis.

SOMETHING IS WRONG WITH THE LORD'S PRAYER

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

I know this topic will just cause some people to scream and yell at me and call for my head. But before you attack me, take your time and carefully study the so called Lord’s prayer.
In the first place, Jesus never called it the Lord’s prayer. Again, Jesus taught this teaching on prayer before He went to the cross, and died and offered redemption to man. We have to examine that teaching on prayer with the lens of grace – everything must go through the lens of grace. Now look at the Lord’s prayer:

WILL THE REAL CHRISTIAN PLEASE STAND UP!

Matthew 5:16 Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Concerning John the scripture says, He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light (John 5:35). Our walk of faith must go beyond just going to church on Sundays to appease our conscience and feel good. It must go beyond just being nice Christians, paying tithe, and driving some nice cars around.

DON'T GIVE UP!

Isaiah 40:31 But they that wait upon the LORD shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint.

When you have suffered in an area for a long time, having sought solution all your life and still to no avail, you tend to drift into unbelief and conclude that there is no way out.

Even when someone tries to offer a new solution to you, you may say, forget it, I have tried all these things before. Praying for such people can be difficult since their faith has been wrecked through delayed answers.

YOU ARE ALREADY FORGIVEN

1 John 2:12 I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name's sake.

The subject of forgiveness of sins in the new testament is different from that of the old testament. Under the old covenant, you ask for forgiveness of sins. While under the new covenant, you take forgiveness of sins. It is just like healing. You really don’t need to ask God for healing if you are experiencing any form of sickness or symptoms. Healing has already been given by the stripes of Jesus.

UNBELIEF IS THE ROOT OF ALL SINS

Romans 14:23 And he that doubteth is damned if he eat, because he eateth not of faith: for whatsoever is not of faith is sin.

In the heart of every sin is unbelief. I believe unbelief is more dangerous than sin itself. If we will believe every word that God speaks and act upon them, we will completely live above sin.

Our opening scripture says that, in the New Testament, anything that is not of faith is sin. Why did Adam sin in the beginning? The answer is simple: he didn’t believe what God said concerning the tree of the knowledge of good and evil.
