BE DRUNK WITH THE SPIRIT

BE DRUNK WITH THE SPIRIT

Ephesians 5:18‭-‬19 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit; ‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬‬

This is an instruction from the Spirit of God. He is instructing us to be filled with Him. That means this is something that we can actually participate in. He tells us what not to be filled with – do not be drunk with wine wherein is excess. Then He tells us to be filled with the Spirit – what it means is to be drunk with the Spirit.

The Message translation says, “Don’t drink too much wine. That cheapens your life. Drink the Spirit of God, huge draughts of him” (Ephesians 5:18).
You can be filled with the Spirit. And to be filled with the Spirit is not a one time experience; it is an everyday experience that any child of God can have.

YOUR LIPS MUST SPEAK WISDOM

YOUR LIPS MUST SPEAK WISDOM

Song of Solomon 4:11 Thy lips, O my spouse, drop as the honeycomb: honey and milk are under thy tongue; and the smell of thy garments is like the smell of Lebanon.

The more you study God’s word, the more you get to know who you are and how God wants you to live your life in Christ Jesus. Our opening scripture is another beautiful description of the bride of Christ which is the church. The CEV puts it this way: Your lips are a honeycomb; milk and honey flow from your tongue....... (Song of Songs 4:11).

Honey speaks of wisdom and the word of God. Both are one and the same. God’s word is His wisdom. You cannot claim to be wise if you don’t know the Bible; I mean having a revelation of God’s word and its application. True wisdom only comes from God’s word. The more of the word you know, the wiser you become in matters concerning the kingdom of God.

LET YOUR MOUTH BE FILLED WITH REDEMPTION TRUTHS

Song of Solomon 4:3 Thy lips are like a thread of scarlet, and thy speech is comely........

Our opening scripture is a beautiful description given concerning the “love” of the “beloved” in the Songs of Solomon. The “love” is a picture of the church while the “beloved” is a picture of Christ who is the head of the church. This description concerning Christ’s “love” is marvellous.

He said, thy lips are like a “thread of scarlet” and thy speech is comely. Do you remember the scarlet cord that Joshua told Rahab to hang on her window in Jericho; and by that scarlet thread, Rahab and her house were preserved when Jericho was destroyed and the city burnt?

FAT NECK - THE YOKE SHALL BE BROKEN

FAT NECK - THE YOKE SHALL BE BROKEN

Isaiah 10:27 And it shall come to pass in that day, that his burden shall be taken away from off thy shoulder, and his yoke from off thy neck, and the yoke shall be destroyed because of the anointing.

Our opening scripture is a beautiful one that shows how you can break every yoke of the enemy. And it is better rendered in newer translations. The Amplified translation puts it this way: So it will be in that day, that the burden of the Assyrian will be removed from your shoulders and his yoke from your neck. The yoke will be broken because of the fat (ISAIAH 10:27 AMP)

In Bible days animals, mostly oxen, were used to plow and do agricultural work. These animals were yoked with the instrument of work or the plow as the case may be. So the animal moves, the instrument is able to plow. These animals were yoked on the neck. Now if the animal grows so fat or large, the yoke will not be able to fit again. Thus you cannot yoke such animals again.

WHAT GOD CALLS CLEAN, DON'T CALL IT UNCLEAN

WHAT GOD CALLS CLEAN, DON'T CALL IT UNCLEAN

Acts 10:15 And the voice came to him again a second time, What God has cleansed and pronounced clean, do not you defile and profane by regarding and calling common and unhallowed or unclean. AMPC

In Bible days, Gentiles were called unclean people. Israel saw every Gentile nation as unclean according to the law of Moses – they were not supposed to have any dealings with any nation on earth.

Now after Jesus came and died and emancipation was declared for all men by His precious blood, there was a change. But Israel did not know it – even the church in Jerusalem still saw Gentiles as unclean people so much they blamed Peter for going to preach to the Gentiles.
