DON'T CORRUPT YOUR EXCELLENCE

Daniel 6:3 Then this Daniel was preferred above the presidents and princes, because an excellent spirit was in him; and the king thought to set him over the whole realm.

Daniel was a man of excellence; the scriptures attest to that. He excelled so much till his colleagues were jealous of him. They tried to pull him down but they couldn’t. They sought to bring an accusation against Daniel but the man was above reproach – his life was full of excellence. Look at his testimony:

Then the [other two] commissioners and the satraps began trying to find a reason to bring a complaint against Daniel concerning the [administration of the] kingdom; but they could find no reason for an accusation or evidence of corruption, because he was faithful [a man of high moral character and personal integrity], and no negligence or corruption [of any kind] was found in him. (DANIEL 6:4) AMP

HEARING THE WORD IS THAT ONE THING THAT IS NEEDFUL

Luke 10:38‭-‬42 Now it came to pass, as they went, that he entered into a certain village: and a certain woman named Martha received him into her house. ‬‬‬‬‬‬
39 And she had a sister called Mary, which also sat at Jesus' feet, and heard his word. 40 But Martha was cumbered about much serving, and came to him, and said, Lord, dost thou not care that my sister hath left me to serve alone? bid her therefore that she help me.
41 And Jesus answered and said unto her, Martha, Martha, thou art careful and troubled about many things:
42 But one thing is needful: and Mary hath chosen that good part, which shall not be taken away from her.

One time Jesus visited two sisters, Mary and Martha. While Martha was busy with kitchen work which is normal for anyone hosting a visitor, Mary did the unusual – she sat at Jesus’ feet hearing His word. When approached by Martha to ask Mary to come help with the chores, Jesus told Martha that, you are cumbered about so many things; but one thing is needful and Mary has chosen that good part and it shall not be taken away from her.

THE REASON FOR OUR PREACHING

1 John 5:13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.

The cardinal reason for the preaching of the word of God is that you might “believe”. This is vital and you have to get it right. Preaching is not for religious purposes; preaching of the word is designed to generate faith for exploits – this is the most important reason for the preaching of the word. Preaching of the word is the “faith generator”.

Faith is what pleases God (Hebrews 11:6). And this faith can only be generated by the preaching of God’s word. Romans 10:17 says, “So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” Take a good look at the preceding verses before the aforementioned scripture:

FAITH IS YOUR DEFENCE

Ephesians 6:16 Above all, taking the shield of faith, wherewith ye shall be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked.

Without faith you are defenceless. According to God’s word, faith is your shield to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. Thus, to live without faith in this evil world is life without guarantee of safety – you are exposed to satanic attacks. For this reason we are admonished in scripture to take on the shield of faith to quench all the fiery darts of the enemy. Scripture also tells us to walk by faith and not by sight (2 Corinthians 5:7).

And to walk by faith means that there are things you have believed from scripture and you are affirming them in your life from time to time. For instance, when it comes to divine protection, you must have scriptures that you have believed and your life is founded upon; this is what shields you from all satanic attacks. What scripture have you believed on divine protection concerning your life and family?
