KNOW WHAT YOU’VE BEEN DELIVERED FROM

KNOW WHAT YOU’VE BEEN DELIVERED FROM

Galatians 3:13 Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree: 14 That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.

Our topic today I believe is very vital: knowing what you have been delivered from. Do you know what Jesus has delivered you from? If you don’t know them, you will be back in them. This is because satan will take advantage of your ignorance and afflict you; for lack of knowledge my people perish (Hosea 4:6). It is not the truth that really makes free but the knowledge of it that makes free.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

OUR UNION WITH CHRIST

OUR UNION WITH CHRIST

John 15:5 I am the vine, ye are the branches………..

Our opening scripture is by far one of the most beautiful descriptions of our relationship with Jesus. Jesus said, He is the vine while we are the branches. And the same life in the vine, that is the stem, is what is in the branches. This implies that the same life in Jesus is what is in us – we share in His life.

This is mind boggling; just thinking of this scripture makes you cry when you look at today’s church, how many are far removed from this life of Christ. Just take a look at the church and see the oppressions going on; it looks like all hell is broken lose and satan is running rampage in many quarters.

IT IS A QUESTION OF MOUNTAINS

IT IS A QUESTION OF MOUNTAINS

Hebrews 12:22 But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels.

The entire scripture is about two mountains: Mount Sinai and Mount Zion; it is about law and grace; and it is about faith versus works. You have to decide which mountain to pitch your tent. Will it be Sinai or Zion? Will it be grace or the law? There is no neutral ground. A mixture of the two will result in death. And if you cannot discern and clearly divide between law and grace, you will struggle in your understanding of the scriptures; and inevitably your walk with God will be greatly hampered.

It is disheartening to know that many believers have pitched their tent on Mount Sinai. Sinai was the place God gave the law to Israel through Moses, the mediator of the Old Testament. Sinai was on fire; there was tempest and blast of trumpets; there was darkness; and Moses himself feared exceedingly. At the foot of Sinai 3000 men died when the law was given. This is why it is called the ministration of death. Why would anyone in his right mind advocate for us to keep the law? How could you pitch your tent on such a mountain? This is serious!

GRACE IS NOT REASONABLE

GRACE IS NOT REASONABLE

Romans 4:5 But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Grace is extravagant favor from God to undeserving men. It is unmerited favor. It is God’s righteousness to sinful men as a gift at Christ’s expense. Anything that is extravagant is not reasonable or practical. And grace is not reasonable. I believe this is one reason a lot of folks finds it hard to receive the gospel of grace. To them it does not make sense. And they are right – it does not make sense. That is why you have to receive it by faith.

Man always looks for something that he can reason and make deductions from it. But God is not like that; He is a faith God. The law is reasonable. To do bad and get bad is reasonable; and you don’t need faith to believe that; and that’s why the law is not of faith but the man that doeth them shall live by them. On the other hand, for God to justify a wicked man, it is not reasonable. No judge on earth who is worth the grain of his salt will let a criminal go free; he must be punished.

SHUT THE DOOR AGAINST THE DEVIL

SHUT THE DOOR AGAINST THE DEVIL

Ephesians 4:27 Neither give place to the devil.

Man is such a powerful being! When God created man, He gave him one powerful thing, will. The word "place" in the opening scripture is from the Greek word “topos” which means opportunity, right or place. Man has the right to choose righteousness or evil; he has the power to choose God or the devil. The extent of satanic operations in your life is largely determined by you. In the same vein, you are the only person that can determine how much of God’s grace that’s operative in your life. If we have the right understanding of the scriptures, we can actually reduce satan to a manageable size. This is truth!

Unfortunately, many of God’s people have just opened their doors too wide for the devil to come in and afflict them. Satan is a deceiver; and he uses his cunning ability to deceive a lot of people into believing he is some powerful being. Sadly, majority of the body of Christ has bought into this lie.
