THE MYSTERY OF THE RAM CAUGHT IN THE THICKET

Genesis 22:13 And Abraham lifted up his eyes, and looked, and behold behind him a ram caught in a thicket by his horns: and Abraham went and took the ram, and offered him up for a burnt offering in the stead of his son.

While Abraham was climbing the mountain to offer Isaac, he did not know that God has already prepared a substitute. As he was about to slay his son, God spoke out from heaven and he said, Lay not thine hand upon the lad, neither do thou any thing unto him: for now I know that thou fearest God, seeing thou hast not withheld thy son, thine only son from me (Genesis 22:12).

God thinks in terms of supply. He does not wait for the need to come before He tries to figure out what to do. God is too smart for that and nothing takes Him by surprise. Before the need ever come God has already provided the provision for it. This is what we need to believe; it will stop the worry and the anxiety.

SAFE IN THE FATHER’S ARMS

Bethesa Mar BannerSAFE IN THE FATHER’S ARMS

Hebrews 13:5-6 Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for he hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. 6 So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me.

Jesus said, "Until you receive the kingdom like a little child you cannot enter into it.” It is interesting to note when I carry my daughters, Charis and Charisma, they don’t confess, "daddy will not drop me in Jesus' name". Amazingly, they are rather excited and full of joy; in fact, they don’t want to get down. This is because they know fully well daddy will not drop me because he loves me.

Why is it that we are not safe in the loving arms of God, our beloved Father? Why do some believers still feel insecure, thinking they have a case to settle with God? Why are many not bold in the presence of God? It is because we don't know how much He loves us as revealed in giving up Jesus for us all.

LOOK AND LIVE

Bethesa Mar BannerLOOK AND LIVE

John 3:14 And as Moses lifted up the serpent in the wilderness, even so must the Son of man be lifted up:15 That whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life.

While Israel journeyed through the desert, they came to a place where they complained and murmured against Moses and God. As a result, God sent fiery serpents and they began biting them. Many died in the process. Upon this they cried unto the Lord and God asked Moses to erect a bronze serpent; that whoever is bitten by a serpent when he looked, will be healed. It did not matter the serpent bite; if only the victim will look up to the bronze serpent he will be healed. If the individual looked at the bite instead of the lifted bronze serpent, he will die. The key was in looking at the lifted bronze serpent. And the word look in the Hebrew means to look with an absorbing gaze; it connotes looking with admiration; it is not a normal look.

While we walk this earth in this life we are on a journey. There may be serpent bites along the way. The serpent bite here speaks of trials and challenges of life. In the New Testament, Jesus has now become that bronze serpent when he hanged on the cross. Today, it does not really matter the bites we may encounter in the journey of life. The truth is that if we will believe and act on what the cross has accomplished for us, every satanic poison of sickness, poverty, setbacks, and the oppressions of life will be swallowed up by the life of Jesus.

WHEN YOU WALK IN WISDOM IT EXCITES THE HEART OF GOD

Bethesa Mar BannerWHEN YOU WALK IN WISDOM IT EXCITES THE HEART OF GOD

Proverbs 23:15 My son, if thine heart be wise, my heart shall rejoice, even mine.

This scripture is so powerful. It is amazing we can make God excited. It is as if God gets sad and needs to be made happy. But that’s not so. God is not in a bad mood. However, when we receive and pursue wisdom, God gets excited. It is just like a father who sees his son doing well and walking in wisdom.

As a child of God, you need to walk in this consciousness of being privileged to make God glad by walking in wisdom. This implies that wisdom is vital in our walk with God and He prizes it above many things. Proverbs 4:7 declares that, “wisdom is the principal thing.” The word principal means first or chief in rank, place or time. When we pursue wisdom and receive it, we are pursuing what is most important.

THE CURSE FROM THE MOUNT OF BLESSING (GERIZIM)

Bethesa Mar BannerTHE CURSE FROM THE MOUNT OF BLESSING (GERIZIM)

Judges 9:7 ¶ And when they told it to Jotham, he went and stood in the top of mount Gerizim, and lifted up his voice, and cried, and said unto them, Hearken unto me, ye men of Shechem, that God may hearken unto you.

This is a very interesting scenario. As at this time Abimelech, son of Gideon, of a concubine from Shechem has just murdered the seventy sons of Gideon except Jotham the youngest who escaped. Jotham heard that the men of Shechem had gone to make Abimelech king over Shechem for Abimelech had convinced the men of Shechem that since he was their flesh and bones, it was better they made him king instead of Gideon’s sons. On hearing about the coronation of Abimelech, Jotham went and stood on Mount Gerizim and cursed Abimelech and the men of Shechem.

At the long run, his curse came to pass and Abimelech was killed by a woman as he attempted to take a city.

Judges 9:57 And all the evil of the men of Shechem did God render upon their heads: and upon them came the curse of Jotham the son of Jerubbaal.
