HOW CAN MORTAL MAN BE RIGHTEOUS BEFORE GOD?

Job 15:14 What is man, that he should be clean? and he which is born of a woman, that he should be righteous?
How can mortal man be righteous before a righteous and a holy God? This was one question the Old Testament saints struggled with; they couldn’t find the answer to it in as much as they wanted to; it eluded them. In their minds, this is not possible. And they were right in the sense that, man of himself by his deeds and works cannot stand righteous before a holy and righteous God.
Man at his best is filthy before God. Scripture says that, “Our righteousness is as a filthy rag before God.” The term “filthy rag” implies a menstrous cloth; and that stuff is very dirty and stinks. This is who man is before God. You cannot trust in your good works. God is so holy; according to the book of revelation He is thrice holy. There is nothing on earth that can come before God. The whole world is corrupted and fallen, including man. Look at what the psalmist said:

TAKE YOUR POSSESSION IN CHRIST

Deuteronomy 2:24 Rise ye up, take your journey, and pass over the river Arnon: behold, I have given into thine hand Sihon the Amorite, king of Heshbon, and his land: begin to possess it, and contend with him in battle.
The fact that you own something does not necessarily mean that you have taken possession of it. Owning something and possessing it are two different things. There are folks who rightly own a property but are not enjoying it because, they are not in possession of it. It is the man who is in possession of the property that enjoys it. To own something means the thing belongs to you legally and lawfully.
On the other hand, to possess something means to seize it or lay hold on it or be in control of that object in question. The word “possess” is from the Hebrew word “yarash” which means to occupy by driving out previous tenants, and possessing in their place; it also means to seize, to rob, to inherit. Even in the natural, there are folks who bought a land rightfully but ended up losing it to some wicked folk. Many have had their inheritance taken away from them by unscrupulous folks.
