JESUS ON THE CROSS

Illumination Sunday with Pastor Victor 2JESUS ON THE CROSS
Monday, 30th November 2020
Pastor Victor

John 3:16 For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

Jesus on the cross placed our interest above His. He did not die because of His interest but ours. We are the reason He died. Jesus did not die for His beliefs; He did not die as a martyr. He died as a sacrifice for the sins of the whole world.

Jesus forgave those who mistreated Him. He did not do anything wrong but they hated him and killed Him. He did not hate them back. But asked the Father to forgive them. We don't have the right to be bitter and unforgiving to those who hurt us and mistreat us. We have to forgive them for they know not what they do.

Jesus didn't pay back those who mocked and killed Him. He had the power to do that but He didn't. Not because He was weak but because He was strong. He could have but He chose to let go; that is power under control. He could have commanded angels to wipe out all this soldiers with Pilate altogether, but He didn’t.

YOU MUST BELIEVE

Illumination Sunday with Pastor Victor 2YOU MUST BELIEVE
Sunday, 29th November 2020

Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.

Sometimes it is not as if the man of God is not anointed. Very often, it is the lack of expression of faith from the people that is responsible for the lack of the miraculous manifestation. There is a balance here: the man of God must be anointed while the people must release their faith into the anointing; this is what brings power and miracles.

You cannot force miracles on people. Just like you cannot force people to be saved, you cannot also force people to receive from God. You can't help people who don't want to be helped; not even God can help them thus man of God, save yourself some trouble.

Our opening scripture says he that comes to God must believe; this implies that faith is a necessity for receiving from Jesus.

While Jesus walked the earth, He required faith from the people who wanted a miracle. One time He asked blind Bartimaeus, what do you want? And he replied, that I may receive my sight. Then Jesus said, according to your faith be it unto you.

GRACE IS THE KINGDOM PRESERVATIVE

Illumination Sunday with Pastor Victor 2GRACE IS THE KINGDOM PRESERVATIVE

Genesis 6:8 But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.

Grace is one of the richest words in scripture. It is the fountain from which all of the possibilities of God are delivered. What are we without the grace of God? What I intend to do in this epistle is to show you one major function of the grace of God. I would to God you will grasp this truth. And this truth is that grace preserves.

The word “grace” in the old testament is from different Hebrew words. The first time the word grace is mentioned in scripture is in Genesis 6:8 which is in relation to a man called Noah, whose name means rest. And in this instance, Noah found grace in the sight of God and he was preserved from the flood that destroyed everything that breathed on Earth. If not for the grace of God, Noah would have perished with the rest of the people.

The other Hebrew word that can be translated grace is “hesed”. And in this instance, the first time the word “hesed” was used in scripture was in relation to a man name Lot, a nephew of Abraham. Genesis 19:19 says, Behold now, thy servant hath found grace in thy sight, and thou hast magnified thy MERCY, which thou hast shewed unto me in saving my life; and I cannot escape to the mountain, lest some evil take me, and I die. The word “mercy” in the above scripture is from the Hebrew word “hesed” which can also be translated as grace.

THE KEY TO KNOWING THE TRUTH

Illumination Sunday with Pastor Victor 2THE KEY TO KNOWING THE TRUTH
Friday, 27th November 2020
Pastor Victor

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Truth is powerful! Now what is truth? Truth is simply the word of God. John 17:17 says, Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. And Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

As powerful as the truth is, it cannot make men free. Don’t be surprised by this bold statement. Truth cannot make men free. Rather it is the knowledge of the truth that makes men free. It is the truth that you know that will guarantee your liberty and freedom. Thus, it is important as a believer in Christ that, you should seek to know the truth.

Now what is the key to knowing the truth? From our opening scripture, we are told that and you shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. If you read that scripture in context, the preceding verse reads, if ye continue in my word, then are ye my disciples indeed. The opening scripture begins with “and” which is a conjunction, connecting it to the previous verse. This is the key to unlock the knowledge of the truth: it is continuing in the word that births the knowledge of the truth.

THE VITAL SIDE OF REDEMPTION

Illumination Sunday with Pastor Victor 2THE VITAL SIDE OF REDEMPTION
Thursday, 26th November 2020
Pastor Victor

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Redemption has two sides: the legal and the vital side. The legal side has to do with what Jesus came to do on the cross; while the vital side of redemption has to do with our faith in what redemption has offered to us. The lack of this knowledge is what has put many folks in perpetual bondage and unnecessary sufferings.

Suffering is unnecessary after the cross. The cross made all the difference. If anyone is suffering today, it is a clear indication that such a person is not participating in what redemption offered to humanity. And this is tied to the lack of the knowledge of redemption truth.

It is one thing for Jesus dying on the cross; and another thing for that which He did to be manifested in your life. For instance, Jesus died for every body in this world and those unborn generations. But not all men are saved. In the mind of God, all men have been redeemed legally; their redemption is a done deal. But until they put faith in Jesus for their salvation, they will die and go to hell.
