THE POWER OF THE WORD

Hebrews 4:12 For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any two edged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.

God’s word is the only instrument of change; it is the only instrument that can touch both body, soul and spirit of a man. Secular knowledge affects only the mind and probably a little on the body. However, it cannot guarantee true change even of the mind and body. God’s word can penetrate all three compartments of man – spirit, soul, and body.

God’s word is spirit and life. The only thing that can give life is the word of God.

John 6:63 says, "It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life."

God’s word is quick; this means that the word is alive. Man’s word has no life in it. God’s word has power to give life to you. It can kill any disease in your body. It can heal any emotional wound. It can change any sinner into a saint. It can turn your sour marriage around if you will engage it.

If God’s word has that much power, then it behoves us to pay diligent attention to the hearing of it.
• The word gives life.
• The word liberates.
• The word cleanses.
• The word gives wisdom, understanding, and knowledge.
• The word gives discernment. The word gives you the right judgment of life.
• The word heals: He sent them His word and healed them and delivered them from their destruction. There were people while hearing the word and they got healed; they did not even need to be prayed for; they were just healed by hearing.
• The word delivers.
• The word brings salvation: it is only the preaching of the word that can save man.
• The word has creative power: God created everything with His word. His word is His creative force. With God’s word, you can create anything that you want. You can create a healthy body, a sound marriage, a fruitful business, a fruitful ministry etc. As you put God’s word into your spirit, and then speak it forth with your mouth, you can create anything you desire.
