John 17:17 Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

The word of God is truth. There is no other truth apart from God’s word. The Bible is a collection of truths from the breath of God. Any teaching that’s not consistent with scripture is not truth. Jesus said, Thy word is truth.

Some folks in the body of Christ think that commentaries and notes in a Bible are equal to scriptures. No. They are not. Notes and commentaries are man’s understanding of the Bible which could be accurate or inaccurate. God’s authority is the scriptures and not the commentaries of men.

For someone to say that because my Pastor said so and so concerning the interpretation of a scripture does not necessarily mean he is right. No man of God is God. Any preaching of men must be subjected to the judgment of scriptures. Thank God for books and tapes of anointed men of God that has transformed lives all over the world.

John 8:32 And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

Truth is powerful! Now what is truth? Truth is simply the word of God. John 17:17 says, Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth. And Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).

As powerful as the truth is, it cannot make men free. Don’t be surprised by this bold statement. Truth cannot make men free. Rather it is the knowledge of the truth that makes men free. It is the truth that you know that will guarantee your liberty and freedom. Thus, it is important as a believer in Christ that, you should seek to know the truth.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Redemption has two sides: the legal and the vital side. The legal side has to do with what Jesus came to do on the cross; while the vital side of redemption has to do with our faith in what redemption has offered to us. The lack of this knowledge is what has put many folks in perpetual bondage and unnecessary sufferings.

Suffering is unnecessary after the cross. The cross made all the difference. If anyone is suffering today, it is a clear indication that such a person is not participating in what redemption offered to humanity. And this is tied to the lack of the knowledge of redemption truth.

1 Thessalonians 5:12‭-‬13‬ And we beseech you, brethren, to know them which labour among you, and are over you in the Lord, and admonish you;
13 And to esteem them very highly in love for their work's sake. And be at peace among yourselves.

One time while passing by a house, I saw a mother brushing the teeth of her son. This small boy was wrestling with the mother that he does not want his teeth to be brushed. Little did he know that what the mother was doing was to save his teeth from being destroyed. But at that age, because he lacks understanding, he doesn’t see the benefit of what the mother was doing for him.

After all, his teeth are not in his mother’s mouth. But because the mother loved the child and knows that if the teeth is not well taken care of, the boy will grow up with terrible teeth and unpleasant mouth odour that will be an embarrassment to himself, and may even destroy his self esteem.

Proverbs 11:9 ............but through knowledge shall the just be delivered.

Our theme scripture could also read, through knowledge shall the just be put over. It means that knowledge gives you the advantage in life. Ignorance can delay a man in the race of life. While knowledge can speed up a man’s life in this world. The choice is yours. You have to determine whether you want your journey to your miracle and breakthrough to be short or to be long; it is not God who determine these things. It is your knowledge in the word that determines how quick you get to your miracle.

I heard Bishop David Oyedepo told a story of a man who was an ordained minister of the gospel, and was plagued with three dangerous diseases for 17 years. All this while, he has been having prayer sessions with an evangelist friend of his but to no avail. Something was really missing in this man’s prayer – and that was faith based on the knowledge of God’s word.
