2 Samuel 9:1 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

A true revelation of who God is will make your walk with Him very effective and an enjoyable journey of faith. On the other hand, if you have a false and twisted perspective of God, your walk with Him will be very difficult, that of a burden and hard loads to carry. The truth is you will greatly suffer and never walk in the fullness of the blessing of gospel of grace.

Our opening scripture reveals to us the heart of our heavenly Father. David here is a picture of God the Father while Jonathan is a picture of Christ and Mephibosheth is a picture of the church or humanity. One day while David sat in his house, he remembered the covenant he cut with Jonathan and exclaimed, who is left in the house of Saul that I may show him kindness for Jonathan’s sake?

BECAUSE OF THE COVENANT

2 Samuel 9:1 And David said, Is there yet any that is left of the house of Saul, that I may shew him kindness for Jonathan's sake?

God is a God of covenant. He is a covenant keeping God. Over the centuries, God has kept His covenants that He swore to different men of different dispensations. Not one time has God ever failed to keep His covenant, for His covenant will He not break nor alter the things that be gone out of His lips (Psalm 89:34).

When David conquered Jerusalem, he swore that no lame person will ever enter the palace. And you know, where the king’s word is there is power. No one was supposed to violate that decree; violation of it could mean death to the offender. But Mephibosheth entered the king’s palace; and not only that, he ate continually with the king all the days of his life. Now what happened? Did king David go soft? No! The answer is the covenant.

2 Corinthians 8:7 Therefore, as ye abound in every thing, in faith, and utterance, and knowledge, and in all diligence, and in your love to us, see that ye abound in this grace also.

There is such thing as financial muscles although it is not something that you can observe with your optical eyes. Just as you possess body muscles physically, so also there are financial muscles. To the degree that you develop your financial muscles, is to that degree you will enjoy sweatless financial triumph.

Most believers in Christ have not understood the concept of giving. And that’s why it shows in the way they give to God. Many are still giving the same offering they have been giving five years ago. Sometimes you will see a grown up fellow giving GHC 1.00 as offering; and this amount is about 0.25 dollars. Sad! Sad! Sad! No wonder many of these folks struggle financially in life.

THE SURE FOUNDATION FOR OUR FORGIVENESS

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

If the gospel is not your foundation, then you probably have a rocking and a faulty foundation. And with that kind of foundation, any storm can cause your building to fall apart. It matters what your faith is built upon. Is it your works or the cross?

The popular preaching we have heard over the years and still going on in the body of Christ is that, if you don’t forgive your brother, God will not forgive you. This is not founded on the gospel. Now someone may say, Pastor Victor but is it not in the scriptures?
