Romans 8:18 For I reckon that the sufferings of this present time are not worthy to be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us.

Several years ago as a teenager, I came in contact with this scripture. It was in a church service; my mother had some bad incident happened to her and God delivered her. Before she gave her testimony, my elder brother, Napoleon, read that scripture. And it has stuck with me over the years. And that scripture was so comforting. Praise God!

The trials and temptations you may be going through right now may be so overwhelming and depressive. And sometimes you feel like quitting or throwing in the towel. But I have good news for you: this sufferings are just for a moment; and cannot be compared with the glory which shall be revealed in us. Notice it did not say, the glory which shall be revealed “to” us but “in” us. The glory is already in us. All we need to do is to get into the position of faith for its release.

Psalm 149:4 For the Lord taketh pleasure in his people: he will beautify the meek with salvation.

God created us for His pleasure and delight. He delights greatly in us. Don’t let this surprise you. If you were not raised in the word, knowing that God loves you, statements like this will startle you. One of my delightful moments is spending time with my two lovely and beautiful daughters. Every move they make just bring another excitement – it is a delight watching them grow. It gives me pleasure to see my life growing in them.

In the same vein, God delights in you, His beloved child. A man of God was on a holiday; as he sat by the pool gazing into the bright sunshine, God spoke to him and said, “I delight watching you”. I know this may not go well with religious folks. To them you have to be fasting and praying real hard before God will speak to you – sitting by a pool is not spiritual to them. The Bible declares that God came to commune with Adam in the cool of the day. Don’t get me wrong; I do believe in fasting and prayers which positions you to hear from God. These are things I do on regular basis. But most of the things God spoke to me came while I was doing something different. Sometimes God speaks to me under the shower. This lets us know that our walk with God is not religion but a relationship.

John 1:1 ¶ In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. 2 The same was in the beginning with God.3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.

The word of God is a person, Jesus Christ. It is the life of God. The word is spirit and life (John 6:63). And it is that word that became Jesus. Jesus is the word that has put on flesh. Hence Jesus’ life came from the word of God.

John 1:14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth

The Spirit of God, who raised Jesus from the dead, lives in you. And just as God raised Christ Jesus from the dead, he will give life to your mortal bodies by this same Spirit living within you. Romans 8:11 NLT

The presence of God indwells you. Hallelujah! This makes me shout because the presence of God in you makes you indestructible. He lives in every fiber of your body, every bone of your body, every cell of your blood.

He is in your eyes, He is in your ears, He is in your lungs, He is in your heart, He is in your kidneys, He is in your blood etc. You cannot have a kidney or heart failure because the Holy Spirit lives in you. Hallelujah!

Ruth 3:18 Then said she, Sit still, my daughter, until thou know how the matter will fall: for the man will not be in rest, until he have finished the thing this day.

The whole book of Ruth is a love story which typifies the Lord Jesus Christ and His beautiful (bride) church. It is one amazing story in the scriptures that shows how God can take a commoner and cause him to inherit substance. Ruth was a bereaved widow with second class citizenship in Israel. But because she trusted in the God of Israel, God blessed her and she became an ancestor of Jesus Christ.

From our opening scripture, Naomi in this context is a type of the Holy Spirit; while Ruth is a type of the church; Boaz is a type of Jesus. What the Holy Spirit is telling the church is: Relax and let me do the work. Jesus did not rest until He saved you. On the cross when He cried, “It is finished”, He bowed His head and rested. He found His rest in saving you.
