THE SURE FOUNDATION FOR YOUR FORGIVENESS

Ephesians 4:32 And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

If the gospel is not your foundation, then you probably have a rocking and a faulty foundation. And with that kind of foundation, any storm can cause your building to fall apart. It matters what your faith is built upon. Is it your works or the cross?

The popular preaching we have heard over the years and still going on in the body of Christ is that, if you don’t forgive your brother, God will not forgive you. This is not founded on the gospel; neither is it founded on the cross. Now someone may say, Pastor Victor but is it not in the scriptures?

I can hear someone saying, there it is! Now hang on a minute. From this scripture it is clear that the forgiveness that we receive from God is based on the forgiveness we give to one another. This is what Jesus meant when He taught His disciples about the Lord’s prayer. But looking at this scripture carefully, it puts my forgiveness on me and not on Jesus. I am only forgiven as far as I forgive.

ALL THINGS ARE YOURS IN CHRIST!

1 Corinthians 3:21 Therefore let no man glory in men. For all things are yours;

As a believer in Christ, you must learn and train yourself not to see yourself in the natural. Do not allow the circumstances around you to determine who you are. Who you are and what you are experiencing may be two different things.

For instance, if you are feeling symptoms of sickness in your body, that doesn’t mean that you are sick; you were not born sick; you were born sickness-free. This is more than been delivered from sickness. What I mean is that you were born without sickness. You are not the sick trying to get healed. You are the sickness-free fighting off sickness that the enemy wants to impose on you.

When you were born again, you were born as an heir of God; in fact, you are joint-heirs with Christ. This implies that, whatever that Christ has, is yours equally. This looks too much for some people. In Christ, you have all things. The fact that these things have not fully manifested in your life does not mean that they are not there. They are there just like you cannot doubt the hair on your head.

James 5:16 Confess to one another therefore your faults (your slips, your false steps, your offenses, your sins) and pray [also] for one another, that you may be healed and restored [to a spiritual tone of mind and heart]. The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

The power that prayer releases is inconceivable by the human mind. Prayer is power. It is one of the keys of the kingdom of heaven. It is one weapon of the believer in Christ that satan dreads. I would to God that we will come in terms with the power of prayer. There is no way we are going to accomplish much in the kingdom of God without the agency of heartfelt and fervent prayer.

Several years ago, in my third year in the university to be more precise, myself and some friends decided to hold an educational program to enlighten science students on certain chosen careers in the science field. We planned everything we were going to do and invited several lecturers from various departments to come speak to us. We did the flyers and went round inviting students. One thing that was not sure was the venue for the program.

About 48 hours to the program and we still hadn’t gotten the venue yet. Then one night my friend Ken and I decided to go to the field to pray because it was getting embarrassing and frustrating. How do we explain this to people? I remember that night on the field, we prayed our hearts out; it was a heartfelt prayer, dynamic in its working. The next day which will be about 24 hours to the program, we got a venue for free. In fact, we went on using that venue anytime we had a program. Hallelujah!

SCHOOL YOURSELF INTO FAITH BY SPEAKING GOD'S WORD

Mark 11:23 For verily I say unto you, That whosoever shall say unto this mountain, Be thou removed, and be thou cast into the sea; and shall not doubt in his heart, but shall believe that those things which he saith shall come to pass; he shall have whatsoever he saith.

You can actually school yourself into faith. What do I mean? What I mean is that you can cause yourself to come to the place of faith. One of the principles of faith says that, if you say something long enough, you will turn to believe it; in fact it becomes a part of you till it enters your subconscious. This is one way to school yourself into faith.

Unfortunately, many believers around the world have schooled themselves into unbelief by this same principle; their talk is always wrong, lacking faith. They speak hopelessness; they speak defeat; they talk sickness and lack. The more you confess these kind of things, the more unbelief wells in you and dominate your life. The end result is defeat, depression and hopelessness.

The word of God produces faith for faith comes by hearing, hearing by the word of God. If you will listen to the word enough, and confess it daily into your life, in no time, you will school yourself into faith. If you look at our opening scripture, the word “say” appears three times while the word “believe” appears once. It shows you that, in the school of faith, speaking is priority to believing.
