Phillipians 3:9 ¶ And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith.
When Elijah contested with the prophets of Baal on Mount Carmel, he asked them to put a sacrifice on the altar – only a sacrifice. The prophets of Baal called on Baal till noon and there was no response. Elijah ridiculed them; and they started leaping on the altar and cutting themselves with knives and bled. This they did to invoke the power of Baal to bring fire on the sacrifice.

GIVING FINANCIALLY HELPS IN ADVANCING GOD'S WORK

Luke 8:1-3 [1]And it came to pass afterward, that he went throughout every city and village, preaching and shewing the glad tidings of the kingdom of God: and the twelve were with him,
[2]And certain women, which had been healed of evil spirits and infirmities, Mary called Magdalene, out of whom went seven devils,
[3]And Joanna the wife of Chuza Herod's steward, and Susanna, and many others, which ministered unto him of their substance.
By divine design, those who receive the blessings of the gospel of Jesus are mandated to give towards its spread. Every believer must be acquainted with this simple truth.
The funding of the gospel is our collective responsibility and not God’s. Of course it is God who makes the provisions available – but this is channeled through men. If we don’t have generous men in the church who are committed to giving for the work of the gospel, the message of Christ will not go far.
